The Fire as One of a Series of Warnings

Found this comment on Ladaat.net:

My translation:

The Midrash later explains exactly step-by-step what happened in the world during recent years.  The Tanhuma Behar, Se'if 3:
And know - why does HKB"H test Israel? To know if they will do Teshuva. First, He brings punishments to the nations, as it says, "I have cut off nations, their corners are desolate... I said: 'Surely thou wilt fear Me, thou wilt receive correction...'"(Tzephania 3:6-7). If they repent, good, but if not, they will lose their money, as it says, "Strangers have devoured his strength..."(Hoshe'a 7:9). If they repent, good...
The compiler adds: the punishments to the other nations include the tsunami a number of years ago, the earthquake in Haiti, the volcano that silenced Europe a number of years ago, and the recent fires in Greece and Russia. And by us, there were wars in Lebanon and Gaza. The loss of money is the recession in America, which is still not clear that they got out of. And we still didn't pay attention that HKB"H did all this, as the wording of the Midrash, "To know if they will do Teshuva." And therefore, this week, the continuation of the Midrash was fulfilled upon us with surprising accuracy, with exact detail. Here is the continuation of the Midrash:
...but if not, HKB"H brings bad punishments upon one of the cities of Israel, as it says, "and it set him on fire round about, yet he knew not, and it burned him, yet he laid it not to heart." (Yeshaya 42:25) If they will repent, good, but if not, what is written? "in this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die" (Bamidbar 14:35). And one should not say "It is not because of me that the bad punishments come". He should know that he will die, as it says, "All the sinners of My people shall die by the sword, that say: 'The evil shall not overtake nor confront us.'"

The situation in Israel is looking worse and worse by the minute. The media and the Knesset are ganging up on Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu and on the Rabbis who signed his petition not to rent or sell property to the arabs. After all the pain and troubles that the arabs have caused us, the media and the government are siding with the arabs. What a chilul Ha-shem. I am afraid to think about what could happen next.
The secular Jews are going to get us all killed chas ve shalom.
The Carmel fire means nothing to them.
On the other hand, could it be that Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu is the leader that we have all been waiting for?
Could he be Moshiach Ben Yosef?
He fits many of the criteria and he has made his appearance right on schedule. Only time will tell.

Itzik,
May I ask you what you mean by "he has made his appearance right on schedule?" Interesting comment, yet I don't know what you mean by it?

blessings. as a noahide i too feel very pained by whats happening there. over centuries, generations, we of the 70 nations have not only been ungrateful, but have caused immense hurt, damage and above all, loss of j lives. we never considered that every j born is a light to the world. i have never heard it ask of any other people to bring enemies to their immediate vicinity. May it be true what the holy tzaddiks wrote, that its always darkest before the dawn, i.e. before the arrival of the long long awaited mosiach.

Itzik, the rav you mentioned is not MBY as haShem has NOT identified him as such, take that to the bank. Nor are the 'secular' going to get us killed. The troubles we have are too huge for anyone but haShem to solve.

Shiloh,Moshiach ben Yosef will arrive to the North. In the beginning, he will not know that he was chosen to be the first savior. He will operate thru his qualifications and thru his love for Am Israel that is embedded in him. He is very pious and has helpers with him. Thru his holy bravery and courage, people of the North as well as others will slowly awaken and want to attach themselves to him and join him. There will be those that will oppose him, including religious Jews that follow the Torah and its commandments.

He will rule from the Galil, his headquarters will be in Tzfat or Teveria. Some Talmidei Chachamim will begin to recognize him as the savior of Bnei Israel and will join him. Others will only join him much later.

Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu has all the qualifications of being Moshiach Ben Yosef. He has made his appearance right on schedule because the 70 nations under the leadership of President Obama are getting ready to partition Israel chas ve shalom, and because Iran under the leadership of a madman is very close to completing its nuclear weapon.

It must be pointed out here that the major obstacle for Moshiach Ben Yosef is not the gentiles, but rather the destroyers from within. They are called the “Erev Rav” (mixed multitude). According to the Gaon from Vilna, the major battle of Moshiach Ben Yosef is against the “Erev Rav”, who prevent the Holy People from recognizing the truth which would bring the redemption swiftly, “HaGiulat Achishena”.
In addition, Moshiach Ben Yosef will have a very hard time even convincing religious Jews that he is Moshiach Ben Yosef.
Rav Shmuel Eliyahu could very well be Moshiach Ben Yosef.

Too much kool aid there. HaShem will anounce him, not any ones writings or speculations.

Shiloh, it is important not to confuse Moshiach Ben David and Moshiach Ben Yosef. Eliyahu HaNavi will announce the arrival of Moshiach Ben David, but Moshiach Ben Yosef will appear totally unannounced. That is why so many Jews at first(including many religious Jews)will refuse to recognize Moshiach Ben Yosef as Moshiach Ben Yosef. But, little by little, Jews will realize their mistake and they will join him.

I think Itzik may have a point here.
Rav Shmuel Eliyahu lives in Tzfat, and Moshiach Ben Yosef is supposed to make his first appearance in Tzfat.
Also, Rav Shmuel Eliyahu is a Talmid Chacham and Moshiach Ben Yosef is a of course a Talmid Chacham.
Rav Shmuel Eliyahu is fighting the Erev Rav that is in power and Moshiach Ben Yosef is supposed to fight the Erev Rav that is in power.
Rav Shmuel Eliyahu is revealing himself at a point when Bnei Israel are completely surrounded by enemies within and without and this is when Moshiach Ben Yosef is supposed to reveal himself.
Also Rav Shmuel Eliyahu is fighting to bring Bnei Yisrael closer to Ha-shem and that is what Moshiach Ben Yosef is supposed to do.
Also all the Gedolei HaDor have admitted that we are inches away from the Moshiach.
Well folks, Israel is really in big, big trouble. I certainly hope for our sake that these are not just coincidences and that Rav Shmuel Eliyahu is Moshiach Ben Yosef.

At this stage in the events of the coming division of Yerushalayim this coming August, it appears ripe for Mashiach ben Yosef to arise. I do not believe that Netanyahu is part of the Erev Rav, but he is lost because he does not know how to turn to G-d now that all the national leaders of the world have turned against us except for Canada's PM. A scheduled two hour meeting with Shrillary Clinton on Nov. 11th (4 Kislev 5771) turned into a seven hour marathon beratement. Although he did not cave on Yerushalayim, he did cave in on almost everything else. He also seems to have unilaterally caved in on withdrawing from the northern half of the Golan village of Ghajar just because the world told him to do it. It would be nice if Netanyahu had his wife's commitment to what is right, his son's Biblical scholarship, and yes his long lost brother's leadership qualities, but for whatever reason HaShem left us with Binyamin not with Yonatan. If he does not step up to the plate soon Yehudah, the Shomron, and Yerushalayim will be immersed in international troops probably by the end of 5771.

The unilateral declaration of a PA State this coming August will bring all these peace keeping enforcement troops here, just as Mincha Gedolah of the 6th millennium sets in on Rosh Chodesh Av 5771 (August 1st, 2011). Except for a world wide economic collapse or a nuclear war with North Korea, what earth shaking event is going to delay this? Now we all know what happens when the world shows up in the mountains surrounding Yerushalayim to divide it and to drive 570,000 Jews from their homes, but will there be someone in place here to stand against them? Of course, he may risk death at the hands of the Erev Rav, but will he stand up to them and the NATO (Gomer and Togarmah), Russian (Meshach and Tuval), and UN troops that are bound to come?

The only problem that I have with HaRav Shmuel Eliyahu being Mashiach ben Yosef, is by what vehicle will he come to power before the troops show up by the end of the summer? In order for him to come to power so quickly, the Israeli government has to literally disintegrate before August, leaving a void that can quickly be filled by a pious G-d fearing first-class Chassid. If not, we are stuck with who is in power right now.

No confusion Itzik, I won't elaborate but I can assure you it's not him as haShem did not announce his unexpected arrival. So with enough lemons we make lemonade. We have throughout history made errors of the Mashiach issue and will continue with such. I laugh at all the predictions of the last few years and was ridiculed constantly for telling those who thought the MBY was here, all where dissapointments, just as your choice. With respect.

Itzik, just a side note, the late Rav Eliyahu knew who was MBY and knows who MBD will be, no, it was not his son. You and the religious will certainly not like the choice of haShem, that I can assure you. Why focus on the Mashiach anyway, it will only detract from us turning to our only help, Our Father in the Heavens. Even if he had been revealed, it matters not, the rabbi's have decided to just wait for the Day of haShem. Maybe it's a better deal anyway this way.

Dov, you are right, Bibi is not of the Erev Rav, just a faithless leader sadly, but he can alway's change. Towards the end of next secular year he will be in huge trouble by the way. Matching what you are saying by the way. We have to wait for haShem to bring the world upon us, then we will see if we have emunah or not. Going to be a tough time to say the least.

Shiloh, davka the Lubavitcher Rebbe encouraged people to focus on the the Moshiach with great Simcha, and to ask Ha-shem to bring the Moshiach now. He said that this encouraged the coming of Moshiach. This in no way detracts us from performing Torah and Mitzvot, but on the contrary it only strengthens our Emuna and our Avodat Ha-shem. This is key to bringing the Moshiach. People tend to forget this now that the Rebbe is no longer with us.
