Rav Scheinberg ZT"L During Purim Seuda: Mashiah is At the Entrance

The Mashiach Is Coming blog is living up to her name by referring us to an AnashNews article which contains a statement by Rav Scheinberg at the Purim Seuda to one of his household members:  "Mashiah is Mamash at the entrance.  The upcoming weeks will have the aspect of 'A hidden face' for Israel."

Also, on Shirat Devorah last week:

The following was related to Rabbi Uri Silver [a rebbi at Rabbi Senter’s yeshiva] by Rebbitzin Wolbe on February 29th 2012. [This story has been verified via Nava at Dreaming of Moshiach, who called Rebbetzin Wolbe to confirm details]

Three months earlier Rabbi Shlomo Wolbe [author of the Alei Shor and the leading Mashgiach of the last generation] appeared in a dream to his granddaughter. He was very excited and animated - which she mentioned was uncharacteristic for Rav Wolbe who always spoke in a very controlled and measured manner. He was speaking very quickly and was looking upwards [also uncharacteristic] and he said that "Mashiach is ready to come, if people would be “concerned for their friends like they are concerned for themselves” then Mashiach will come immediately."

Rebbetzin Wolbe mentioned that it is a mitzva to publicize this dream!

The Maharal of Prague goes even further (Gevuros Hashem, Chapter 18; Netzach Yisroel, Chapter 28), commenting on Sanhedrin 98a. There, the Gemara relates that Rabbi Yehoshua ben Levi once met Eliyahu Hanavi standing at the entrance of a cave. "When will Moshiach appear?" he asked. Eliyahu answered, "Go and ask him yourself." "But where can he be found?" "At the gates of Rome." Thus we have two sources, the Midrash and the Talmud, corroborating Moshiach's presence in Edom. ("Rome" is associated with the kingdom of Edom.)

Rashi, however, interprets "the gates of Rome" in the figurative sense. "Not the actual entrance to the city, but to Gan Eden, which is opposite the entire world. That is to say, Moshiach is situated on the side of Gan Eden which is opposite its entrance." But literal or not, what's the connection between Moshiach and Rome?

The Maharal places the emphasis on the word "gates": Moshiach is not in Rome, he's at its entrance, the door through which people go in and out and where the city ends. In other words, Moshiach is only on the periphery of Rome.

It would be nicer that He is entering the Gates, not just standing at the entrance. We still don't how long He will stand there.
