The Boston Terror Attack and Geula

The terror attack that occurred in Boston was the first attack on American civilians since 9/11.  People lost lives.  People were critically injured.  People lost limbs.  If you notice, the limbs lost were almost all lower extremities

So, we had an event that was supposed to celebrate the power of one's legs and it turned into a tragedy where many people injured - or even lost - their legs.

It says in Ha'azinu:
לִי נָקָם וְשִׁלֵּם לְעֵת תָּמוּט רַגְלָם כִּי קָרוֹב יוֹם אֵידָם וְחָשׁ עֲתִדֹת לָמוֹ.
Vengeance is Mine, and recompense, against the time when their foot shall slip; for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that are to come upon them shall make haste.
Of course, we don't know Hashem's ways. We don't know why an 8-year-old child and others had to die. We don't know why all these people had to lose their legs.  It seems so senseless, and yet we know it's not.

If there is any positive that we can take from this tragedy, we can possibly believe that it is connected to לעת תמוט רגלם - "the time when their foot shall slip".

The gematria of לעת is 500. It is exactly 500 years since the mainland of the United States was discovered by the first known European - namely, Juan Ponce de Leon, in April, 1513.

The verse implies that when their foot shall slip, the day of calamity to the nations of the world is קרוב - at hand - and the things that are to come upon them shall חש - make haste (as many commentators - like the Rashba"m and Da'at Zekeinim - point out, the word חש is related to בעתה אחישנה).  Hashem's vengeance upon the nations is part of the Geula process, ulimately leading up to a rectified world.

Let us hope that we will soon see the feet of the Mevaser and the "feet" of HKB"H on Har Hazeitim.

thanks for the info yy. as a noahide i daily pray that our non jewish world will change and wake up to the fact that they are fighting a wrong battle. you dont fight against right and expect a win. and those who do not believe in the holy tanach have history to prove that Hashem always fights for israel. that israel may undergo sometimes some for m of hardship. but eventually their enemies fall. my noahide friends and i have tried in our own way to change our people. not to force them to follow the 7 laws, but as dov puts, basic human values that Hashem has blessed each of us with. a hindu once told, even if one cant do anything good for another, atleast refrain from doing bad. but here we see all getting together and bullying israel. its very hard even for us noahides to see all this and yet be unable to reach our people. no one can claim ignorance today, with the internet in almost anyone's reach. there is life in it for those who wish to study the torah and its laws under orth rabbis. and there is wrong in it also. the choice is ours. free will. ????however Hashem has given it to us, so obviously the means to choose the right. why dont they??? now we can only pray for them to be changed mercifully, a quality we of the non jewish world at most times did now show to the jewish people.

That's very insightful about the 500 years. How did you discover that?

There are so many "historical" nuances to this happening.

In the East, especially Northeast of Indochina (China and thereabouts), the lower extremities signify heavens. If someone dies having lived a dishonorable life, East Asians will go so far as to sever the skeletal feet of a corpse to prevent them entrance into heavens. An operative form of justice in the afterlife, so not necessarily desecrating the body. At least, that's my novice understanding of how justice is meted out in the Far East. Your Messiah's steps are clear and concise, correct?
