The pre-Holocaust attitudes are alive and well, huh? Granted, the necessity is rather remote, especially if you're not in the Golan, but to brush away the concern like that is wrong. Syria has used chemical weapons and they are crazy. Crazy enough to lob missles at Yerushalyim and Bnei Brak? Pray that they aren't. But don't ignore the steps one can just in case.

Aaron Klein thinks Turkey is the address for the Syrian gas attack, to pull the US into a regional war. So he says in the Rockland Times (NY). I felt all along there was an entity instigating the regional trouble. To me, Iran had all the reasons to do this, but Aaron says the culprit is "nerdogan the crazy".

In the end I don't think the US will shoot, esp if the UK doesn't go.

I can tell you from here (the UK) that there is zero appetite for war with Syria. Most of the British couldn't even find it on a map; besides, our army is still embroiled in Afghanistan and years of cutting the military budget mean that the UK isn't quite the imperial power it was in days of yore.

The overwhelming concerns here are 1) the ecomony and 2) immigration, especially from Muslim countries. No one trusts Cameron to do anything useful about either issue. We can't afford to go into Syria and the mood here is that it's to do with Islam, which would put the UK at further risk of terrorism.

It will be interesting to see if Cameron ignores his own party and sucks up to Obama.

Read the interesting parashat hashuva for this week by Daniel Pinner on the Tomer Devorah site. Interesting about the word 'AD' that H' warns us not to dare go after 'Seir', Esav's terr., 'UNTIL' ('AD') the time of our Geulah. This coming year is 5774, which '74 (ayin daled = AD). Just a thought.(TomerDevorah.Com)
