Obama Quotes Zecharia

President Obama quoted this verse in Zecharia:

לֹא בְחַיִל, וְלֹא בְכֹחַ--כִּי אִם-בְּרוּחִי, אָמַר יְהוָה צְבָאוֹת

Not by might, nor by power, but by My spirit, saith the LORD of hosts

I'm still waiting for him to quote this verse in Zecharia:

וְהָיָה, בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא; אֲבַקֵּשׁ, לְהַשְׁמִיד אֶת-כָּל-הַגּוֹיִם, הַבָּאִים, עַל-יְרוּשָׁלִָם

And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.

When did he quote this? At that Chanukah 'party' that was forced upon him? In what context was this said?

I read that two 'local' chassidim were also on the list; and this seemed to be a "BIG" thing as far as they were concerned. Some people are still in the dark, even while celebrating Chanukah with all their chassidishe hiddurim!!

Yes, at the Hanuuka party.

I saw some commenters on another Jewish site equate Obama's Hanukka party to the party of Ahashveirosh. They said something like "Ahashveirosh's party served Kosher food too!"

That said, I really cannot blame those who went. Going to this doesn't mean you support the president - it means that you are a Jewish leader who wants to promote Jewish causes in Washington, and an effective way of doing so is by going to this party. If I were invited, I would have to think about going. I'd probably ask a She'eila.
