Rav Shteinman: There is a Decree in Shamayim to Destroy the Jews - We Must Strengthen Ourselves to Cancel It

From Kikar:

Rav Shteinman rallied against smart phones (in Hebrew סמרטפונים, which is phonetically (no pun intended) similar to "הצפוני", an alias of the Yetzer Hara), and said that just as one who is about to die gets stronger right before he dies, so too the Satan feels and knows that his end is near so he therefore fights with all his might to have influence and the smart phones make his job easier.

Someone later asked Rav Shteinman if he meant by "his end is near" that it has to do with the threats from the leaders of Iran. Rav Shteinman paused, and the other man continued saying that it seems that we have nothing to worry about because we know that Israel is strong and able to give the Iranians their due, so we have nothing to fear.

Rav Shteinman totally rejected these words and said (my translation):
The wicked Haman in his time threatened annihilation of all the Jews in one day.  Mordechai heard this and trembled.  He gathered all the Jews for prayer and the children for learning about the tenth of an Eipha.

During the Holocaust, Hitler threatened to destroy the Jews and there were those who thought not to pay attention to his words because they thought he was crazy and insane, but Rav Elchanan Wasserman HY"D gathered his students and made it clear to them that they need to strengthen themselves against these threats.  Rav Elchanan brought the story of Haman to his students and told them that even though Haman was a mad-man, Mordechai was still terrified.

Rav Elchanan explained that if Haman is threatening, it's a sign that there is a harsh decree up in heaven to destroy the Jews and there is a chance that Haman will enact it, so Mordechai needed to work to cancel it. Rav Elchanan added to his students that the same is with them in his days - Hitler's threats meant that there was a harsh decree in heaven and everyone must strengthen themselves to cancel it. In contrast to the miracle of Purim, Rav Elchanan perished along with his students during the Holocaust.

The main thing is that someone is threatening us, even when we're talking about a mad-man. This is a clear sign from heaven that there is a decree to annihilate Israel. We must strengthen ourselves in order to cancel it.

Explain why there would be a decree in Shamayim to destroy the Jews-G-ds beloved. Why not a decree in Shamayim to destroy the evil enemies?

I cannot explain the unexplainable. These questions could have been asked 70 years ago and during the reign of Ahashverosh as well.

i believe the decree is to make klal yisrael united and to cry out in fear to Hashem. at the yam-suf they had miracles when they screamed out from fear and the hopelessness of the situation. it's NOT that Hashem WANTS to destroy any of us, just that we need a nudge (or a great big push) to make us call out, to want to be saved and to have earned it-however little we mere mortals COULD earn such great rachamim and miracles, as the geula.
and also, just like moshe rabeinu prayed so much for klal yisrael when Hashem wanted to wipe us out after the sin of the golden calf- He said 'let me' which showed Moshe there was room to pray after the huge crime. which could be seen as proof that decree's are there to be cancelled by intense prayer, teshuva and awareness.

Yes, exactly, Rina.

I took it for granted that my readers understood this.

Thanks for clarifying this important point.

How do we know that Rav Shteinman actually said this? Our gedolim are always being misquoted. When a Rav in our city was asked, he said Rav Shteinman would never say suh a thing.

Get rid of smart phones, vote for Shas, use great care in folding your shabbat tablecloths, buy a golden toilet seat, and yes, the decree will be lifted. Wait, you now wonder why there is the decree? So simple, but we won't wake up to the simple fact we are so far away from derech haShem it's insanity to expect anything less then a decree such as this.

as a noahide i wish to write that G-d would never destroy His first born, HE corrects them when necessary. this exile has been too long, and too long the jews are among us gentiles. i really feel unhappy to add this, but the gay parade , the removal of jews from their homes, the disco clubs and all in tel aviv, the marital abuse and child abuse, all which should not be happening in the Holy Land, or among jews, is happening there. perhaps Hashem is saying that these should be corrected or atleast calling for proper teshuvah. i live in a muslim country. there can never be any gay parades here. nor can anyone ever stand and say publicly there is no G-d. ofcourse yismael has his faults, many, but these two faults dont exist. there are gays , there are lesbians, prostitutes, you name it, they are there in muslim countries, but they will never be legalised.Israel must return to moses laws, and tell the 70 nations NOT to interfere in its internal affairs, separate buses and such. actually the separate bus issue is a very safe option for women and for men. the women are safe from immoral men and the men need not face temptations. may the jewish leaders get the strength to stand up to the gentile leaders who dont mean good for the jews.

As for the chabad village right next to tel avive Hashem yrachame they are right next to the city !
