Rav Dovid Soloveitchik: The Matzav is Ayom VeNora
In Rav Fish's latest, he quotes Rav Avraham Yisrael Froilach Shlit"a, a close student of Rav Meshulam Dovid Soloveichik Shlit"a. On 2 separate occasions - before Rosh Hashana and during Shabbat Shuva - Rav Dovid Soloveichik repeated to him over and over that both the physical and spiritual situation that we are currently in is Ayom VeNora (terrifying and dreadful).
When others tried to calm his fears, he said, "That's what they said in Poland!"
He contrasted the reaction of the Jews of Poland and that of the Jews of Yerushalayim during the Holocaust. The Polish Jews convinced themselves that everything would be alright, whereas the Jews of Yerushalayim cried out and prayed fervently to Hashem for salvation. The outcomes of these communities during the war proves which is the correct path, he said.
At one point, after Rav Dovid told him that the situation is Ayom VeNora, Rav Froilach tried to connect it to the Torah reading (at the time) from Parshat Nitzavim, where it says, גפרית ומלח שרפה כל ארצה (and that the whole land thereof is brimstone, and salt, and a burning). Rav Dovid grabbed his hand, and said "Has Veshalom! What, you want there to be גפרית ומלח שרפה כל ארצה?! This already happened twice in the 2 Hurbans! Do you want this again?!"
Rav Froilach remained silent for a few moments as Rav Dovid continued, "I'll tell you one thing. The verse at the end of Malachi tells us: (Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and terrible day of the LORD. And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers; lest I come and smite the land with utter destruction.) Even those days, where we deserve 'I come and smite the the land with utter destruction,' nevertheless, I will send Eliyahu Hanavi.
We must pray that Hashem will choose sending Eliyahu Hanavi and not the end of the verse."
This is just a short summary. If you can read the Hebrew, please do so.

my my... we will pray!!
Scary that many seem to be apathetic.
6 million dead al kiddush HaShem in Europe. 6 million Jews in Eretz Yisrael now. What is the difference? Perhaps the 6 million here are now in the right place at the right time? I will say Tehillim, but the last thing to do right now is to worry or panic. A little faith and common sense mean that this was meant to be. B'itah there is no other way. And applying Rav Aryeh Kaplan thinking in his great book: If You Were G-d, this all makes so much sense. Calm down, and watch how G-d glorifies His Name. It is precisely in the merit of the 6 million from 72 years ago, that this 6 million will be redeemed. Chag Sameach.
This does not mean that there won't be a shake up for the collective lack of common decency of a certain group of people called the Erev Rav. Those who voted to destroy the homes of others may end up losing their homes. Again it all makes so much sense. And where will Kadima, Labor, and Meretz voters flee to safety while missiles are flying on the Left Coast? to the people in Yesha that they voted to publicly hate and destroy their homes in order to engender love amongst the nations. So as long as they flee, they will be physically safe, but they will learn the hard way not to destroy someone else's home in order to be loved by the goyim or popular in their sight. This is all so simple, so basic, so rational. Can't others see this? Yes, the kinder gentler Gog W. Bush way was so much more pleasant. But we collectively screwed that one up. So now we learn some basic lessons in human decency the hard way, with little loss of life here in EY. And unlike the last one, this one will end at the end of this Shmittah cycle.
Dov, you did not answser my question: "Sdom and Amorah G-d burned that cities not for things that man doing with other man, but for robbery, that was the last sin before city was burned(the same also true for Noah's time). " All these years you were saying how New York and other cities will collapse because of the certain sin, and tell us where to move, but I found a proof from TANACH that it was not that sin for burning those cities and making flood, what you are going to say now?
Let me give you some good advises:
Our books of ethics teach us that we should not live in the past (think what we did and why we did that ) and what will be in the future. This worries takes from us positive energies. Live in the present and do what Hashem asks you to do.
By the way, there are Rabbanim who say that bad degree finished during the Holocost and that was the last harsh decree of Jewish people. Why you creating some kind of forms from your thoughts that can only damage! Think positive and stop burn yourself. Mashiah will come in the most positive way that we can't even image how is going to be!
Rabbi Dovid a very great Tzaddik who never was נהנה מעולם הזהhe is one of a kind he lost his mother and sisters
in the Shoa .
Imagine you are waking up with a propeller attached to you, is it not nice way to be redeemted? Use postive imagination (of course with more tefila, more tsedaka, more hesed)
In this final stage it is going to be great miracles and we will witness His Greatness and we will sing the last song with Mashiah be Simha, just be happy and that what makes Hashem happy! No need to worry and panic for the future, you will gain nothing by that. Very unusual things might happen to scare us and to help to make teshuva for those who did not make it yet, and this will be for our benefit. We will be scared very much and it will be kappara for our sins but we will live and sing the last song be Simha, that is the promise!
Psalms Chapter 126
1 A Song of Ascents.
When the LORD brought back those that returned to Zion, we were like unto them that dream.
אָז, יֹאמְרוּ בַגּוֹיִם-- הִגְדִּיל יְהוָה, לַעֲשׂוֹת עִם-אֵלֶּה. 2 Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing;
then said they among the nations: 'The LORD hath done great things with these.'
3 The LORD hath done great things with us; we are rejoiced.
4 Turn our captivity, O LORD, as the streams in the dry land.
5 They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.
6 Though he goeth on his way weeping that beareth the measure of seed,
he shall come home with joy, bearing his sheaves.
Chag Sameah and be happy!!!
