How Many Fought Against Avraham Avinu and How Many Will Fight Alongside Gog?
Sanhedrin 95b (Daf | Text | English):
The Maharsha asks on the wording "attacked Avraham", which the Torah doesn't mention - it only mentions the idea that the 4 kings attacked the 5 kings and then Avraham chased after them! Rather, suggests the Maharsha, after that occurred, the 4 kings wanted revenge against Avraham and attacked him with a huge force of men, and still Avraham prevailed against them. Rab Judah said in Rab's name: The wicked Sennacherib advanced against them13 with a force consisting of forty-five thousand princes, each enthroned in a golden chariot and accompanied by his ladies and harlots, eighty thousand warriors in coat-of-mail, and sixty thousand swordsmen of the front line, the rest cavalrymen. A similar host attacked Abraham ,14 and a like force will accompany Gog and Magog.15
The Maharsha adds that all 3 wars are grouped together as they are very similar in that there were minuscule odds of winning as it was the very many against the very few and nevertheless Hashem made a wondrous miracle. Avraham was only with 318 others and some say it was with just Eliezer. The same with Hizkiya - the numbers were impossible, were it not for the angel of Hashem smiting them in one fell swoop. And again, during the Gog Umagog War, Gog will come with extremely large numbers, and Israel will be at the epitome of lowliness, but nevertheless, Hashem will redeem Israel with amazing miracles.

AMEN!
AMEN AND AMEN!!!!
One felled swoop!
Interesting post, I wonder if there are any connections to the 1948 war of Independence when the Jewish army was few and very poorly armed and prepared consequently the Six day war and then the Yom Kippur war.
These three wars were all a concept of the convergence of the world's army (backed up by the major countries as far as arms and training and logistics etc.) coming to attack jerusalem.
There is maybe a way to interpret the Torah prophecies to suggest that many of these events have already occurred (like the Lubavitcher Rebbe stated that Gog and magog already happened)
I would be interested in hearing your comments
Shavua Tov-keep up the great work!
Tidal Melekh Goyim is probably a reference to Obama who will order an attack through NOT using his veto at the UN either in 5774 or 5775. Chedarleomer king of Eilam is of course the Persians. Amraphel Melekh Shinar was Nimrod who returned as Nebuchadnezzar and then Saddam Hussein, and he is gone. The nation of Ellasar apparently was in Cyprus in ancient times and is likely from Yawan. Of course Cyprus is bankrupt and couldn't raise a two pony cavalry at this time. So in accordance with the Gemorrah in Avodah Zarah we just have the King of Persia, Khamenei and Tidal Melekh Goyim to contend with since Bavel has been subsumed into Persia and Greece is subsumed into decrepit Rome.
The Melekh Goyim part is fascinating because in ancient times this of course was not one country. And apparently we have a hint that Eilam (Persia) will be the trigger for the other nations of the world to join in on the attempt to divide Yerusahalayim in year 14 starting with the Al Aksa Intifada...now that Bibi is rebelling. He did not rebel in year 13 as the five kings did as he should have, but he was fine with degrading us all by releasing murderers from jail just to keep the Goyim from sending troops this year, year 14. So did he successfully delay this one year? Time will tell. So it will happen either this year or next. The frenzy is in the Air.
medrash says that there were 800,000 troops together with the 4 kings
R' Dov,
See the Midrash I quoted 4 years ago and my explanation there, which is somewhat similar to yours, but you added your interesting analysis.
Anonymous 5:35,
Where is that Midrash? Thanks.
Rav Mordechai Eliyahu
Rav Mordechai Eliyahu ztz”l used to say that the Holocaust was the War of Gog and Magog, as it is written in the Gemara that the Holy One Blessed Be He could consider Hezkiya to be Mashiach and Sancheriv as Gog and Magog, but the sin caused this not to be so (Sanhedrin 94).
If so, it’s possible to consider the Holocaust as the war of Gog and Magog. We have suffered enough.
Rav Eliyahu related that someone argued on his view and said that his words were not correct and that the War of Gog and Magog will be coming in the future, and he brought all types of proofs that it had not yet occurred.
The Rav told him: “Whoever thinks that there needs to be a War of Gog and Magog will be in this war, while those who hold that it has occurred already will be exempt from it.”
– From the book Besha’ar Hamelech
Wow, just found out that Obama's chief adviser, Valerie Jarrett, was born in Persia and was raised with Persian culture. So there she is the link between the Goyim and Eilam (Persia) in the Obama Administration.
Also the last place that Moshe Rabbeinu saw at the end of his life was Tzo'ar after he had a vision of the destruction of Newe' Dekalim by a standing army/ police force of 200,000 of its fellow Jews. In the Torah, Tzo'ar is first known as Lasha at the time of the Dispersion. 51 years later it was known as Bela before it was renamed Tzo'ar at the time of the destruction of the other four cities by fire, brimstone, and burning sulfur. The Dead Sea today has the world's largest concentration of Sodium (S'dom) Bromide salt to show for it. Of course about 20 years before the destruction of S'dom and the other three cities, Tzo'ar was also known as Bela at the time of the invasion of the Four Kings. Coincidentally or not, Bela was also Binyamin son of Ya'akov's first born son. We all know who is Binyamin today. Perhaps he is Bela a.k.a. Tzo'ar whom Moshe Rabbeinu saw at the end of his life. The Targum Yonatan has a lot to say about the City of Date Palms, but when he gets to the last word, Tzoar, he is silent.
One of the keys to unlocking this puzzle has to do with the name of the Persian, Elamite king, Khedarla'Omer which I believe means bundle (or ball) for the sheaf (of grain)? The fact that he is mentioned as the leader while Nimrod/ Amraphel played second fiddle during the invasion is noteworthy. But the fact that Bela was both the name of Tzo'ar and the name of Binyamin's firstborn is also noteworthy.
Speaking of Binyamin, today is the Yahrzeit of Rachel Imeinu who died while giving birth to him. May we be all comforted amongst the remnant of the mourners for Tzion and Yerushalayim.
Yes, we have all suffered enough if you come and join us here in Eretz Yisrael on our large lifeboat, about the size of New Jersey. We now have 6 million Jews here and counting. Eretz Yisrael can hold another few million Jews. So welcome home even before you show up.
A sheaf bundle likely refers to the final harvest at the End of Days. In Eretz Yisrael the grain harvest is in the Spring, not the Fall, since the only wheat, barley, spelt, oat, and rye harvest is winter grain because grain needs rain during the growing cycle. So the final harvest should be in Adar or Nissan as opposed to Tishrei??
Well, well, well. I just checked into basic biographical information on Bibi. As of this October he is 64 years old, which means he will have been an adult for 51 years, just like Tzoar at the time of the destruction of the other four cities. This would mean that Chedarle'Omer and the Goyim will come against us before his next birthday.
Maybe this is a post?
His birthday was on the 21st of Oct, 1949 (28th or 29th of Tishrei 5710). He turned 64 (51 years as an accountable adult for his sins) on the 28th or the 29th of Tishrei 5774 (Oct. 3rd or 4th, 2013). And so it has begun?
I should point out that for the other four wicked cities, the names of the kings are mentioned. The City of Bela is mentioned without mentioning the name of its king. This could be because his name was meant to be a secret for the End of Days. Here we should read King of Bela as Father of Bela who is Binyamin.
