Special Haftara This Shabbat - Won't be Read Again for 21 Years
3 years ago, I posted this explanation and the following table:
The rule is that whenever Pinehas falls out before Shiv'a Asar BeTamuz, it gets its own Haftara. Otherwise, we read the Haftara of Parshat Matot as it is then the first of the "Telat dePuranuta" - 3 Haftarot of Punishment. When Pinehas is read after Shiv'a Asar BeTamuz, Matot and Mas'ei are read together.

We see from the chart that the Haftara that will be read this coming Shabbat will not be read again for 21 years. There was a similar 21-year break from 5744-5765.
Just to analyze the recent times when Mattot and Mas'ei were separate and Pinehas got its own Haftara:
- Parshat Pinehas, 5765 was 3 weeks before the awful Disengagement occurred.
- Parshat Pinehas, 5768 was between Yerushalayim Bulldozer Attack #1 and Attack #2.
- Parshat Pinehas, 5771 was when Leiby Kletzky A"H was murdered. Baba Elazar ZT"L was murdered a couple weeks later.
- Parshat Pinehas, 5774 is a week after the 3 boys were found murdered while last week's riots are escalating this week.
I'm not saying that this Haftara or that this year's calendar configuration is bad luck, Has Veshalom. I'm just trying to notice patterns. We need a Navi like Eliyahu Hanavi to tell us what it means.
Eliyahu Hanavi annoints a bunch of people in this Haftara. May this Haftara mark the end of our troubles - not just for 21 years, but forever. And may this be the time when Eliyahu Hanavi finally annoints Mashiah Ben David as king, Amen.

This last tragedy brought Israelis together like no other before. Increased tragedies just might bring us so close that Mashiach shows up. Just a thought, like yours.
Remembering what Rav Kanevsky said about Mashiach being so close . . . More teshuva might just warrant his arrival.
I think just the opposite. All these tragedies are just a sign that Hashem is very angry at us for not keeping Torah and Mitzvot; and this will only prolong the coming of the Moshiach. I am willing to bet that no more than 15% of Jews in Eretz Yisrael keep the Shabbos. It is completely worthless, and in exchange Hashem has given us a completely worthless Prime Minister who never keeps his word. He did nothing about Iran and he will do nothing about the Hamas. WORTHLESS.
Anon #1: The real Jews of EY, those who are very observant and those less, & traditional are all good! The gov is Erev Rav, (useless but dangerous) and the 15 to 20% following their ways are probably not halachally real Jews, together with all the goyim now residing in Israel. The real Jews must unite as one nation and show H' they are on the right side. No more fence-sitting.

You don't account for the summers that terrorist attacks happened that we didn't lein that haftora. With hope that has hem will wipe out the false prophets / navi habaal / those who preach all will be, don't worry about sins, of our day just like in the time of eliyahu.
