Hamas Terrorist Dies in Attack Tunnel Collapse

A member of the Al-Qassam Brigades, the "armed wing" of the Hamas terrorist organization, died Friday when an attack tunnel he was in collapsed in Gaza near the Israeli border, Hamas and medical sources said.

The sources did not say why the tunnel, located in eastern Shejaiya in northern Gaza, collapsed, according to AFP.

A statement from the Al-Qassam Brigades said a member was killed in the collapse of "a resistance tunnel." A spokesperson for the Gaza health ministry said two others were "moderately injured" in the tunnel collapse.

Giving deeper insight into the nature of the incident, a Palestinian Arab source said the collapse occurred while terrorists were conducting "resistance-related activities," a possible reference to weapon transfers or attack tunnel reconstruction.

'Voice of Saddam's Regime' Dies at 79

Tareq Aziz, who was known as “the voice” of Saddam Hussein's regime, died in an Iraqi hospital Friday at the age of 79 after years of poor health as a convicted prisoner, AFP reports.

"Tareq Aziz arrived at the Hussein Teaching Hospital at 3 p.m.," Dr. Saadi al-Majed, the head of the health department in Dhi Qar, the province where Aziz was jailed, told the news agency.

"He died because of a heart attack," the doctor said.

Adel Abdulhussein al-Dakhili, the deputy governor of Dhi Qar, confirmed that Aziz died in hospital in Nasiriyah, where the former foreign minister was brought when his health worsened.
