Why Wait? Do Mitzvot Now to Bring Geula!

Rav Berger quotes the Apter Rebbe (the Ohev Yisrael) as explaining the first verse of Ekev as follows:

   והיה עקב תשמעון את המשפטים האלה

At the End of Days (Ikveta Dimshiha), you're going to at the very least be forced to do Teshuva and listen to Hashem and do Mitzvot.

ושמרתם

So, why wait? (From the לשון of ואביו שמר את הדבר) Why wait to do Teshuva and perform Mitzvot?  It would be much better if you would immediately...

ועשיתם אתם

... perform the Mitzvot so that we could merit to have the Redemption come before its time.
