1948 Years Until Geula Gematrias
As many of us know, the number 1948 is a special number for the Jewish people. Most know it as the secular year in which the State of Israel was founded. Fewer know it as the Hebrew year that Avraham Avinu was born.
The number now represents the number of years of our current exile. If the Destruction of the Second Beit Hamikdash took place in 3828 [68 CE], then 1948 years later is the current year 5776.
Here are some interesting gematrias with the value of 1948:
1) Vayikra 14:17:
We know that Mashiah is suffering with Tzara'at. This verse talks about a Metzora's purification, and therefore, the revelation of Mashiah.
shall the priest put upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed
2) Hoshea 14:2:
We know that Israel is only redeemed via repentance. He will be revealed today if we repent, as it says
Return, O Israel, unto the LORD thy God; for thou hast stumbled in thine iniquity.
3) Mishlei 3:17:
Those who follow the paths of the Torah will find peace at the end of the journey. And in Derech Eretz Zuta, Ribbi Yosei Hagelili says that Mashiah's name is "Shalom" and the first words he will say when he is first revealed is "Shalom".
Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.
4) Shir Hashirim 2:10:
עָנָה דוֹדִי, וְאָמַר לִי: קוּמִי לָךְ רַעְיָתִי יָפָתִי, וּלְכִי-לָךְShir Hashirim Rabba says that ענה דודי refers to Eliyahu and ואמר לי refers to Mashiah, and in fact, expounds the subsequent verses, such as עת הזמיר הגיע, as referring to the time that Mashiah will be revealed.
5) Shir Hashirim 8:1:
The Targum on that verse says that this verse refers to the time Mashiah will be revealed.
May the 1948 years of our exile bring it to its close and herald the revelation of Mashiah, speedily in our days, Amen.

Yaak, here is a Mashiah related discovery.
Yes, I just did a blog post on this. With some addition fascinating information RARE Find: Bulla of Hezekiah [son of] Ahaz king of Judah
Plus I was going to ask you, Yaakov, if you could find a remise to the 1948 in anything concerning Hezekiah, because of the occasion of this find.
Thank you for the links. I was reading over Sanhedrin 98A and found a paragraph about Lepors, but it doesn't infer that Mashiach is a metzora, only that he bandages the suffering one at a time, in case he should be called.
Is there another section alluding to his condition?
Neshama, Rashi there ד"ה סובלי חלאים clearly calls him among those who are מנוגעים. It is even clearer on 98b, where one of the names of Mashiah is חיוורא דבי רבי, which Soncino translates as 'a leper scholar'.
It stems from Yeshaya 53:4, where again the word is נגוע.
thanks. i think that changes everything we understand about Mashiach.
Thanks, I found it in 98B English translation.
This could be the connection to Hezekiyah, because it says that he was stricken with Shehin, the 6th Makkah of Mitzrayim.
''A leper scholar'' - could that also mean that he is well-learned in the laws of tzaraat, rather than being afflicted by it?
No.
It means he has Tzara'at. I'm not sure why this is difficult for people to accept.
Tzara'at is a spiritual affliction due to sin. In this case, however, he is afflicted due to the sins of the Jewish people rather than his own sins. See why this is possible here.
There is a lot about Tzaraat here: {note this is part 1, click at the end for part 2 and 3]
About Tzaraat Part 1
Neshama,
Sod1820 alerted to us that the bulla reads (note the spelling):
לחזקיהו אחז מלך יהדה
If you count the ך as 500, the gematria of this phrase is 776.
Awesome, thank you Yaak. I seem to connect each of these "archaeological" discoveries near the Temple with things written about the Geula, but don't have the gematrias or pesukim to correlate. Thanks again and Chanukah Samayach! 🍩🍩🍩 (those funny things are donuts:-)
