Once again, this is cited about recent events when ironically the Rebbe told us to publicize this yalkut shmoni as it spoke about a portion of the Persian Empire--Iraq,not Iran! Saddam Hussein was the malefactor spoken about prophetically within. the Gulf War was the event that threatened the entire world. As is always the case, the rest of Clal Yisroel plays catch-up to Chabad. The truth is the zman of our redemption started in 1991!
I credit Chabad for spreading Mashiah-awareness among the masses of Kelal Yisrael. However, there is no catch-up to Chabad necessary. Plenty of non-Chabad Yeshiva-educated people were talking about Mashiah beforehand. And the Yalkut Shimoni isn't and wasn't so esoteric that only the Lubavitcher Rebbe ZT"L knew about it. He did, however, make Mashiah into a movement and removed the "stigma" of talking about Geula-related concepts among the hamon am, which is to his credit.
Re: 1991, 1991 was an important year, but in retrospect, was obviously not the zman of our redemption. Rather, it was a preamble to it - no different than 1948 and 1967. Alas, we must still wait.
he said it as a prophecy, and it has been unfolding ever since. No preamble! we have been in the Zman(era)of the Redemption all of this time-- he told us that Moshiach has come, and all that we need to do is "open up our eyes to see". The "generation of the midbar" was also oblivious to it-- "how could it be geuladik when Amalek was able to attack us"? We like they are now experiencing events in the process of geula termed "bilti Retzuim".
Moshiach
The Persian Gulf War
THE PERSIAN GULF WAR of 1991 has a unique significance in the unfolding of the Messianic Redemption. The Rebbe's own footnote at this point in his published discourse states "not only as a sage and a judge, but as a prophet which means that it is certain." http://www.congregationlubavitch.org/page.asp?pageID=659A12D9-6985-402F-BA16-DBE14BB0A235&act=search&selArchive=2&selDisplay=1&moshHdr=1#1b
If someone adds ZT"L when mentioning the Lubavitcher Rebbe doesnn't even begin to grasp what a Rebbe is.
A ksiva vechasima toiva, Moshiach Now!
Close, late 1990, nearly 1991.
The Rebbe s words can be applied to this events right now. The Rebbe knows exactly what happened then and also what will happen In fact, the Rebbe prophecied the second gulf War
Iraq is located where Bavel was until the Persians (Paras) moved in and took it over. Paras was where Iran is today. So...
The Rebbe maybe had ruach hakodesh, but actual prophecy has not yet returned to the world. We should be exacting with the language. A person who gives real prophecy speaks in the Name of HKB"H and his words must be attended to as if it were HKB"H Himself speaking.
All of the predictions of the Yalkut Shimoni have yet to be fulfilled, ergo it could not have been Iraq and it won't be Iraq because Iraq no longer exists as such.
I've just been dealing with the chutzpah of a self-appointed group calling itself a Sanhedrin and presuming to act as an authority on behalf of our nation. It appears from some public statements they have made, that they have given up waiting for Mashiach to come and do his job and have decided to act in his stead. It gave me a new perspective on the Rambam's precious words, "...yet though he tarry, I will WAIT for him."
Consider also that at the two most crucial moments in the history of the world: (1) Adam and Chava with the fruit of the Eitz Tov v'Ra and (2) Klal Yisrael with the Eigel HaZahav, what happened? THEY FAILED TO WAIT! Wait until the appointed time. They jumped the gun and in both instances, they were convinced they were doing the right thing! Or at least they rationalized it that way to themselves.
Believe me, the final test BEFORE Mashiach will be the same exact test once again. It has to be so because it is the only way to make the tikun - by being faced with the same test and succeeding where previously we failed.
Do you think we will pass, or fail as we have before?
