Eldad and Medad Prophesying About Gog Umagog Sources

Sanhedrin 17a and Maharsha there

Targum Yonatan and Targum Yerushalmi and Peirush Yonatan (see also this post)

Bemidbar Rabba 15:19 (see מהרז"ו, the אמרי יושר and a very interesting ידי משה there)

Anyone know of any other sources that add more information?

Hello. Interesting titles, yet any way to give somewhat of a translation? I know it must be extremely time consuming, yet even a "gist" would be wonderful- your website is excellent and gives me and others such chizuk! I look forward to it and when it's all in hebrew, I'm like, "Nooooooooooooooo." :)
Thank you!

The point of the post was to point out the sources and find out if I'm missing any. However, since you asked, I'll give a summary.

The Gemara in Sanhedrin quotes 3 opinions on what they were prophesying about: 1) Moshe dying and Yehoshua taking over 2) The quail 3) Gog Umagog. Targum Yonatan blends all opinions into one (see the post I linked to).

The Agadat Bereishit says that what they were saying was that after Gog Umagog, there would be no exile or servitude.

The Yedei Moshe (I just added the link) says that Eldad and Medad were prophesying about the date of the Geula and that even though, something that was hidden from even Moshe then, since Eldad and Medad had even more humility than Moshe, they had more Ru'ah Hakodesh than he did, so they saw what he couldn't. This is why Yehoshua wanted to quiet them down and Moshe said not to be jealous for him. Halevai everyone should be so humble to get the level of Ru'ah Hakodesh required for this.

Rabbeinu Bahye says that they prophesied until the days of Mashiah about Gog Umagog.
