Berit Bein Habetarim: The Real Abraham Accords

Israel and UAE have agreed to start diplomatic relations.  There are many reasons to celebrate this.  Peace is a wonderful thing.  However, peace for a price is a less-than-wonderful thing.  The price here is "suspending" the push for sovereignty over parts of Yehuda and Shomron - an opportunity that, despite Netanyahu's rhetoric, will likely never come again until Mashiah.  The opportunity to make peace with UAE would likely have come at a later date regardless - as long as belligerent Iran is still around.  But declaring sovereignty over parts of Eretz Yisrael - it seems that that ship has sailed - at least by way of natural means.

It could be - and very much seems to be - that this is the Retzon Hashem.  And that only Mashiah will declare sovereignty over the full and complete Eretz Yisrael.  This is what was promised to the Jewish nation in the Berit Bein Habetarim:

יח  בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא, כָּרַת יְהוָה אֶת-אַבְרָם--בְּרִית לֵאמֹר:  לְזַרְעֲךָ, נָתַתִּי אֶת-הָאָרֶץ הַזֹּאת, מִנְּהַר מִצְרַיִם, עַד-הַנָּהָר הַגָּדֹל נְהַר-פְּרָת.	18 In that day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying: 'Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates;
יט  אֶת-הַקֵּינִי, וְאֶת-הַקְּנִזִּי, וְאֵת, הַקַּדְמֹנִי.	19 the Kenite, and the Kenizzite, and the Kadmonite,
כ  וְאֶת-הַחִתִּי וְאֶת-הַפְּרִזִּי, וְאֶת-הָרְפָאִים.	20 and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Rephaim,
כא  וְאֶת-הָאֱמֹרִי, וְאֶת-הַכְּנַעֲנִי, וְאֶת-הַגִּרְגָּשִׁי, וְאֶת-הַיְבוּסִי.  {ס}	21 and the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Girgashite, and the Jebusite.' {S}

There is a dispute as to who the nations in verse 19 referred to and I provided the sources in Hebrew here.  Interestingly, Ribbi's (Ribbi Yehuda Hanasi's) opinion is that קיני refers to Arabia, which presumably includes the UAE.

So, at least according to that opinion, the real Abraham Accords will give the Jewish people sovereignty not only over classical Eretz Yisrael, but over the nation that prevented Jewish sovereignty over Yehuda and Shomron.  May that day come speedily in our days, Amen.
