____ ben David
Are you from David Hamelech? If so, are you Ben Ahar Ben?
Arutz Sheva has a nice article and video about the new King David Museum and Genealogy Center in Yerushalayim, which is affiliated with the Davidic Dynasty website.
The other day, I was learning Seder Olam Zuta, which goes through all the Reishei Galuta throughout history until the Gaonic period. The Reishei Galuta are of the Davidic line.
A peirush on the Seder Olam Zuta (don't remember what it was called) goes a bit further in history, and mentions other people who trace their lineage to David Hamelech. This includes Rav Sherira Ga'on and Rav Hai Gaon. Also included is R' David Ben Zakkai, who had a falling out with Rav Saadia Gaon, but subsequently made peace with him. According to this peirush, the last person to trace ben-ahar-ben lineage to David Hamelech is a descendant of R' David Ben Zakkai, who died in Spain. This document about the Shaltiel family goes a bit further in history, up to the 15th century.
Some go further and trace ben-ahar-ben lineage to the Abravanel and the Maharal.
There are others that go to the present day, like the Dayan family and the Charlap family.
As we say in the Birkat Hamazon: ומלכות בית דוד משיחך תחזירנה למקומה במהרה בימינוMay we see a renewal of Malchut Beit David speedily, in our days. Amen.

The Lubavitcher Rebbeim are descendents of Dovid Hamelech, as is known.
Evidently this isn't so pashut anyway, regarding the Maharal, since the relation to Dovid HaMelech is through Rebbe Yehudah HaNasi, who according to the Gemara (I don't have the exact source here) is not descended from Shlomo HaMelech.
