Avodah - What We're Missing

In the יום הכיפורים Musaf, we read:

וְעַתָּה ה' אֱלהֵינוּ. חָרֵב מִקְדָּשׁ. וּבָטְלָה עֲבודָה. גָּלוּי וְיָדוּעַ לְפָנֶיךָ. שֶׁאֵין לָנוּ
לא אָשָׁם וְלא אִשִּׁים
לא בַדִּים וְלא בְלוּלָה
לא גורָל וְלא גַחֲלֵי אֵשׁ
לא דְבִיר וְלא דַקָּה
לא הֵיכָל וְלא הַר הַמּור
לא וַעַד וְלא וִדּוּי בַּשֵּׁם
לא זֶבַח וְלא זְרִיקָה
לא חַטָּאת וְלא חֲלָבִים
לא טָהֳרָה וְלא טְבִילָה
לא יְרוּשָׁלַיִם וְלא יַעַר הַלְּבָנון
לא כַפּרֶת וְלא כְרוּבִים
לא לְבונָה וְלא לֶחֶם הַפָּנִים
לא מִזְבֵּחַ וְלא מְנורָה
לא נְתִיחָה וְלא נְסָכִים
לא סלֶת וְלא סַמִּים
לא עולָה וְלא עֲבודָה
לא פָרכֶת וְלא פַּר הַחַטָּאת
לא צִיּון וְלא צִיץ נֵזֶר הַקּדֶשׁ
לא קִדָּה וְלא קִנָּמון
לא רֵיחַ סַמִּים וְלא רֵיחַ נִיחוחַ
לא שַׁי וְלא שְׁלָמִים
לא תודָה וְלא תְמִידִים

אֲבָל נָתַתָּ לָּנוּ ה' אֱלהֵינוּ אֶת יום (הַשַּׁבָּת הַזֶּה וְאֶת יום) הַכִּפּוּרִים הַזֶּה. אֶת יום סְלִיחַת הֶעָון הַזֶּה. אֶת יום מִקְרָא קדֶשׁ הַזֶּה. יום שֶׁהוּא אָסוּר בַּאֲכִילָה וּשְׁתִיָּה. וּבִרְחִיצָה. וּבְסִיכָה. וּבִנְעִילַת הַסַּנְדָּל. וּבְתַשְׁמִישׁ הַמִּטָּה. יום אַדִּיר בִּימֵי שָׁנָה. יום שֶׁתִּמְחל בּו אֶת כָּל חַטּאתֵינוּ. וּתְכַפֵּר לָנוּ עַל כָּל עֲונותֵינוּ. וְתַעֲבִיר עַל כָּל פְּשָׁעֵינוּ. כַּכָּתוּב בְּתורַת משֶׁה עַבְדֶּךָ:

The list of items missing nowadays to do the proper Avodah - done in the order of the alef bet - is staggering. Even the inclusion of Yerushalayim and Tziyon on the list - one can argue - still apply. And yet, there is a consolation at the end of this that tells us that Hashem is still with us in Galut to forgive our sins. While the consolation is nice, how much better it would be with the original list! May we be zochim to have them again soon.
