- A community-wide gathering will take place due to recent tragedies.
- Joel Pollak lost in this ultra-liberal district we live in, which includes Northwestern University, but I applaud his effort. VIN has his concession speech.
- I learn from Kikar (of all places) that Chicago Jews still like Obama. Funny. 99% of the Jews I associate with can't stand the guy.
- For Illinois governor, Brady just can't get an easy win or loss - he won the primary by just 194 votes and is losing the general election by 9,774 votes - pending the counting of over 25,000 absentee ballots.
- The pro-Israel Mark Kirk won for senate, helping the Republicans regain Peter Fitzgerald's senate seat...er, I mean Barack Obama's senate seat...er, I mean Rolland Burris's senate seat...er, I mean the people's senate seat.

Is it my imagination, but there are just so many people leaving us lately, all the jewish neighborhoods are engaged in Tehillim groups for those who are ill or taken young. The afflicted keep increasing. I hate to use the overused "tsunami" but it causes one to stop and think!
Are there any references or prophecies about so many so quickly being recalled to shomayim?? As a prelude to a 'hastening' of the geulah?
There are definitely sources for good people dying before major tragedies לא עלינו - let's hope that is not the case here. (See Bava Kama 60a at the bottom.)
Regarding the geulah, "many so quickly being recalled to shomayim" is definitely part of Hevlei Mashiah. You can even say it hastens the Geulah as the חפץ חיים says based on the gemara in Sanhedrin.
Lets hope that now that the Republicans control the House of Representatives, they will push for a more aggressive policy towards Iran.
Iran is getting closer and closer to The Bomb and everybody is asleep.
The sanctions are not going to help at all. The only way to solve this thing is militarily. And the world beware if Iran makes The Bomb. Then all the major terror groups will have access to The Bomb, including Hizbullah, Hamas, and Al Qaeda.
If Obama and Netanyahu continue to ignore this, then there is a good chance that the Moshiach will suddenly appear.
