Baba Sali and Osirak - Torah Helps the Military Operation

This week's Pahad David (p. 2) relates how PM Menachem Begin asked great rabbis to pray for the success of the bombing of Iraq's Osirak reactor in 1981, including the Baba Sali ZT"L and Rav Shach ZT"L.  The Baba Sali asked the prime minister what time the operation was to begin.  Begin replied that the airplanes were to take off at 2:00 PM.  The Baba Sali then said that he suggests that the planes should take off at 4:00 PM instead.  Reportedly, Begin acquiesced to the Baba Sali's request and delayed the operation by 2 hours.

Later, those who were close to the Baba Sali asked him why 4:00 was preferred over 2:00.  He replied that 4:00 PM was when the Yeshiva students across the country returned from their afternoon break and started learning Torah - and it is only in the merit of the Torah learning that we are protected from those who wish to harm us.

As it turned out, the Osirak bombing was B"H very successful with all planes returning safely to base.  This is the power of Torah learning.

i pray with all my strength your dream is blessed to come true , G-d willing , now.
yy, how sad that lapid, bennet and others refuse to see all this, that Hashem has designated jobs for each of the israeli tribes. ofcourse we may not know who all of them are and to which tribe, however, torah learning is so importantly stressed, that one should stress on it. each and every jewish group is blessed with outstanding capabilities in every area that is necessary for us to live on this earth. all becomes one like zevulun and naftali. at a time when isr is so endangered its so sad, so very sad, that instead of joining hands with the pm to protect the nation, threats are made to bolt the gov. as your great sages wrote, this too will be for the good. how, i dont know. but Hashem does!

A few days ago, before Shabbat Shelah I saw another dream. Mashiah will come when I will earn $12000 from my new job that I started recently. I am not going to tell you the date when I will receive my last payment, but it is very close. I pray now that it will come with Mercy and all Am Israel will sing the last song beSimha!

I just came back from Minha. At the end of Amida I ask Hakadosh Baruhu to send Mashiah as soon as I will get $12000, to send him with Mercy that all Am Israel will sing the song beSimha! After that I said Yehi Ratson...and I taught if the tsibur will not say Vidduy that will be good sign. When I finished thinking of that I 've heard Chazan started to sing Nakdishah Venaaritsah...Chatan was praying with us, and we said Ehi Shem instead of Vidduy.

The month of Tammuz has the most strict judgement of all months and the Shem for this month is "Heh"then"Vav"then"Heh"then"Yud" the opposite of the month of Nissan with straight Shem of Mercy. This is the month that many bad things befall on Am Israel, but this month is also the month that we can turn darkness into colors. To make it happen a person should be humble, because there is no judgement to humble people. That is the Shem that we have our kavanot in Rosh Hosesh Musaf Amida. (some sefardic siddurs have those kavanot). Hashem says those who knows my name his prayers will be answered for the whole month and that is refering to have that kavana in Amida. We have to increase our learning during 3 weeks; it may be even 5 min extra a day and learning Zohar (even you don't understand),the words itself have tremendous power and it sweetens the judgement. Rosh Hodesh Tov!!!

Making Tikun Chatzot During The Three Weeks

The Kaf HaChayim (Rav Yaakov Chaim Sofer 1870-1939) writes in his commentary on Shulchan Aruch siman 551, seif katan 221, a very important Minhag from the Arizal (Rabbi Yitzchak Luria Ashkenazi ben Shlomo, also known as the “Ari” 1534-1572) that was written in his sefer ‘Sh’ar HaKavanot’. There the Ari says that while it is proper to mourn Jerusalem by reciting the Tikun Chatzot every single night of the year, one should all the more so be vigilant in this prayer during the 3 weeks. This is a prayer to mourn the destruction of the Bet HaMikdash (Temple).

The Ari goes further to say that the custom is to also say the Tikun Rachel (part of Tikun Chatzot) every afternoon after Chatzot (midday) during this 3 week period. In New York, this would mean after about 1:15 PM. One should take the time and go to a private place to say Viduy, and sit on the floor, and read Tikun Rachel. This is a custom that should be embraced and done throughout the Ben HaMitzarim.

Now, we should not say this Tikun Rachel in the afternoon on Erev Shabbat, Rosh Chodesh av, nor should it be said on Erev Tisha Beav. Aside from these 3 periods though, one should open a Siddur, and read the Tikun Rachel every afternoon. It is normally found in Sephardic Siddurim in the beginning of the Siddur.

Chacham Ben Tzion discusses this Minhag in his sefer ‘Or L’tzion Helek 3’, and says it is quite a proper Minhag. The Gemara says only those who mourn Jerusalem will merit to see it in its glory. Mourning Jerusalem doesn’t mean only one or two days a year, but rather a constant remembrance.

So again, one should be careful to say Tikun Chatzot every night especially during this 3 week period. And, one should try and say the Tikun Rachel every afternoon after Chatzot except for Erev Shabbat, Rosh Chodesh av, and Erev Tisha Beav.

Why people worry about the future by not knowing what will be tomorrow? Everybody talks about WW3, panic, negative thoughts, instead of concentrate to purify yourself with nice things, not worrying, and be happy.
"Whoever thinks that there needs to be a War of Gog Umagog will be in this war, while those who hold that it had occurred already will be exempt from it."
Everything depends on the state of mind! Be happy and thank Hashem for who you are and where you are.
