Hareidi Enlistment Law Figures Show Massive Failure
The Shaked Committee, headed by MK Ayelet Shaked (Jewish Home), met Monday morning to track the results of its controversial Enlistment Law, which was passed in mid-March, and found that the law has had the exact opposite of its intended effect.

It was revealed in the discussion that of the 1,500 hareidi IDF recruits set as a goal for the law, only 300 have been enlisted - meaning the legislation has only reached 20% of its goal.

As a result of the law, hareidi draft figures nosedived dramatically.

Those trends were pointed out as early as June, a mere three months after the law was passed, when Rabbi Avraham Baron, former Chairman for 25 years of the Hesder Yeshivas Association, told Arutz Sheva that hareidi enlistment had fallen sharply and said he hoped the High Court would invalidate the law.

Thoughts on Yishmael and the Terror Attack

The root of Yishmael's anti-Semitism

In Parshat Toledot, after Yaakov Avinu snatches the blessings away from Esav, it says: וַיִּשְׂטֹם עֵשָׂו, אֶת-יַעֲקֹב, עַל-הַבְּרָכָה, אֲשֶׁר בֵּרְכוֹ אָבִיו; וַיֹּאמֶר עֵשָׂו בְּלִבּוֹ, יִקְרְבוּ יְמֵי אֵבֶל אָבִי, וְאַהַרְגָה, אֶת-יַעֲקֹב אָחִי [And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing wherewith his father blessed him. And Esau said in his heart: 'Let the days of mourning for my father be at hand; then will I slay my brother Jacob.'] The root of anti-Semitism stems from this verse.
14 verses later, in the last verse in the Perasha, it say s וַיֵּלֶךְ עֵשָׂו, אֶל-יִשְׁמָעֵאל [so Esau went unto Ishmael]. The next verse after this starts talking about Yaakov and his travels to Lavan's house, so we are done dealing with Yishmael, and I believe that his name is not mentioned ever again in the rest of the Torah (barring the travellers when Yosef is sold, but that mentions the group Yishma'elim - not Yishmael singular).
Parshat Lech Lecha calls him a Pere Adam. In Vayera, he's thrown out of the home. In Hayei Sarah, he does Teshuva. Perhaps, the Teshuva period of Yishmael corresponds to the Ottoman era, whose sultans were more or less kind to Jews. This last verse of וַיֵּלֶךְ עֵשָׂו, אֶל-יִשְׁמָעֵאל in Toledot tells us that the anti-Semitism of Esav will transfer to Yishmael at the End of Days. After the fall of the Ottoman Empire, Yishmaelite anti-Semitism skyrocketed. In the subsequent century, following WWII, Esavian anti-Semitism plummeted. Of course it still exists, but far less than it was 100 years ago. Similarly, Yishmaelite anti-Semitism existed during the Ottoman Empire too, but far less than today.

Yishmael's warped view of Aharit Hayamim

Please read this article by the Clarion Project on how Islam views the End of Days - not to believe them, but to see their warped view in relation to reality. There are a few similarities to the Jewish view, with, of course, changes in names and places (e.g., a Mashiah figure, an Armilus figure, a third - a third - a third, etc). It could be that their view was known to our sages and may very well provide another reason for the Abravanel's and Malbim's claims that Gog Umagog will be Islam vs. Xtianity.

Zohar Hadash on Balak

I'm not sure if the Zohar Hadash on Balak [Hashem1 | Sulam] applies. However, it's hard to deny the "coincidence".
The Zohar earlier talked about 274 years after the day of the sixth millennium - a year that very much seems like 5775. If Creation was in Year 1, the sixth millennium started 5001, and in turn, the "day" (as opposed to nighttime) of the sixth millennium started in 5501. 274 years later is 5775. It also mentions there that it is the year that Shemita and Yovel come as one. We know it to be Shemita year and there are good reasons to call 5776 a Yovel year, as I explained elsewhere.
A bit later, the Zohar talks about someone who is not fit to rule becoming the ruler: ומאן דלא אתחזי למלכא, ייתון ליה למישלט. וייתון עמיה עמין נוכארין, ולישנין אוחרנין, דלא ישתמודעין דינא, ולא נימוסי מלכותא. וכמה קרבין יחשבון למעבד [And someone who is not fit to rule, they will bring him to rule. And he will bring with him foreign peoples - and other languages - who do not follow the rule of law or the laws of the government.] This very likely refers to the recent news of President Obama announcing his new Amnesty plan for illegal immigrants.
A bit later, the Zohar talks about HKB"H learning with Moshe Rabbeinu: וקב"ה ישמע, ויעול לגו היכלא דאהבה, ויטול מתמן תלת רחימין, ויפתח לון מערתיה [And HKB"H will hear and will enter the Palace of Love, and He will take from there 3 beloved ones, and He will open the cave of Moshe for them.] The bodies of the 3 boys were found on July 1, 2014.
A bit later, the Zohar talks about a war made by the 10 tribes: ובהאי יומא, יתערון עשר שבטין, לאגחא קרבין לארבע סטרין דעלמא, בהדי משיחא דאתמשח עלייהו [and on that day, the 10 tribes will awaken to wage war against the 4 corners of the world with this Mashiah that they annointed upon them], which could be referring to Tzuk Eitan and the "4 corners of the world" refers to the Hasbara war.
A bit later, the Zohar says the following:

שכינתא תהך ותהדר לגבי משה, שבעין יומין. לסוף שבעין יומין, סליק נאקו דישראל לקמי מלכא קדישא, דיהון מעיקין לון בכל סטרין דעלמא. וכנישתא חדא לצד דרומא יתאביד ויתחריב. וחמשה זכאי קשוט יתקטלון בינייהו:
The Shechina will go and return toward Moshe for 70 days. After 70 days, the cries of Israel will go up to the Holy King because they are provoking them from all directions of the world. And one synagogue toward the south will be destroyed, and 5 true Tzadikim will be killed among them.
Even though it appears that the 2 mentions of "70 days" refer to the same 70 days, it could be read as "After 70 days after the first 70 days." 140 days after July 1, 2014 (when the 3 boys bodies were found) is Nov. 18th, 2014 - the day of the Har Nof Massacre. Yerushalayim is in the south of Biblical Israel. On that day, 5 Tzadikim lost their lives in a synagogue. (I include the Druze policeman as a Tzaddik, as Rav Ovadia ZT"L mentioned in his pesak halacha.)
