Rav Chaim Kanievsky: BE"H, If One Learns Hilchot Shevi'it and Keeps its Laws, Mashiah will Come Motza'ei Shevi'it

Ladaat reports that Rav Kanievsky was presented with a new Sefer on the laws of Shevi'it called "הליכות השביעית" by Rav Menachem Mendel Pomerantz Shlit"a.  When he received the Sefer, he said the Yiddish equivalent of "Baruch Hashem, the public is learning about Shemita."

While holding the Sefer in his hands, he said the following (quoted in Ladaat):

אמרו חז"ל: במוצאי שביעית בן דוד בא. החזון איש אמר שאם לא לומדים הלכות שביעית, אזי לא ניתן להגדיר זאת כ'שביעית'. וממילה ההבטחה של חז"ל תבוא בעזרת ה', אחרי שבשביעית ילמדו את ההלכות וייקמו אותן כדבעי, אזי בעזר ה' במוצאי שביעית יבוא בן דוד ויגאלנו.

My translation:

Haza"l said: On Motza'ei Shevi'it, Ben David comes.  The Hazon Ish said that if people do not learn the laws of Shevi'it, then one cannot categorize this as "Shevi'it".  And it follows that the promise of Haza"l will come with Hashem's help when on Shevi'it, people will learn the laws and keep it properly, then on Motza'ei Shevi'it, Ben David will come and redeem us.
