Regarding the horrible death and injuries at Rav Wosner's funeral:
I'm genuinely confused as to the message. Rav Ovadia's funeral was over 1 million and there were hardly injuries -- and those that were seemed more self-inflicted, i.e. dehydration, attendance by those without the necessary physical stamina, etc. -- and certainly no deaths. In fact, the men made little human circles around fathers with young children so that the children would be protected.
Rav Elyashiv's funeral numbered in the tens of thousands and again, hardly any injuries and certainly no deaths.
So what happened at Rav Wosner's funeral?
Yaakov, you give us lots of links but we hardly hear sage words from you. You must be busy in other areas?
Dassie, I think this levaya was hastily unprepared, the physical exit from the shul/home was extremely narrow, and the unbridled fervor all contributed to the outcome.
No one is noticing that the Gerber niftar was an orphan, was looked after and supported by Rav Wosner zt"zl, there is an uncanny relationship of the two neshomas buried so close in time with one another.

I didn't know that about him being an orphan supported by the Rav or about the narrow exit.
Yet I still find myself wondering about the message. Because many funerals, particularly in Jerusalem, are by neccessity hastily prepared. And why would Rav Wosner's funeral produce such fervor but the others not?
I feel like I'm missing something.
