358 points drop in China, in my opinion, is not directly related to the gematria of Mashiah משיח = 358 , but rather to the same valued gematria of THE SNAKE נחש = 358 .
This Snake is highly significant for China, the very symbol of this evil country being the SNAKE.
And the fact of equality between gematrias of so opposite concepts as MASHIAH and THE SNAKE, stems from requirement, that Mashiah must have the same "energy level" so to say, (as expressed in equality of gematrias, spiritual energy levels, in a sense), the same "energy level" as his ultimate enemy THE SNAKE, the entity, which Mashiah is supposed to fight and destroy, in order to bring the Redemption to the Holy People of Israel and to the whole world.
Another link between Mashiah and The Snake, is what is written in many Kabbalistic Midrashim, that Mashiah will be gilgul, reincarnation of King David, who was in turn, the reincarnation of Adam haRishon, The First Man. This is hinted in Rashei Tevoth, the first letters of the words of אדם = אדם דוד משיח .
The Snake, on the other side, who was the ultimate enemy of Adam, The First Man, will be also the ultimate enemy of Mashiah, the gilgul of Adam. This Snake will be totaly destroyed in the End of Days !

In regards to the passing of the world's oldest Jew, I had read well over a year ago (in February 2014) that the world's oldest living Jew is Rabbi Hacham Zechariah Barashi, shlita. The article I had read stated that he was born in 1900 in Kurdistan, made aliya to Eretz Yisrael in (I believe) 1934, and currently lives in the Baka neighborhood of Yerushalayim. I had the tremendous zechut to meet him at his home when I was visiting Eretz Yisrael two months ago. Although he appeared to me to be more or less confined to his bed, and he had tubes to help him breathe, his mind was sharp, and he told me a few things about himself. (On the wall above his bed hung a picture of the great mekubal, R' Yehudah Fetaya, ztvkllh"h, zya"a. When I noticed the picture, I asked him if he had known him in his lifetime, and he responded (if memory serves me correctly) that he used to do tikkunim with him back in the day.) As I prepared to take my leave, he put his hand on my head and gave me various berachot. Right before I left, I purchased the three sefarim he authored (entitled Yalkut Barashi, Peninei Zohar u'Divrei Musar al Hamisha Humshei Torah). I humbly recommend to anyone who has the opportunity to meet him to seize the opportunity while it's still possible.
