Trump, Sanders, Clinton, and Cruz Gematrias

The Ben Ish Hai ZTVK"L, in the beginning of Parshat Devarim in year 1 (Hebrew | English), notes that there are 212 hours in the first 9 days of Av that are meant to be bad for the Jewish people.  Although the 9 days contain 216 hours, the final 4 hours of Tish'a Be'av day are sweetened since that is when Mashiah is to be (or was to have been) born.  He also notes that the months of Tamuz and Av were given to Edom and are to be returned to the Jewish people in the future.

The 2 winners of the New Hampshire Primary are Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders.

The gematria of Donald Trump (דונלד טראמפ) is 424, or 212 x 2.

The gematria of Bernie Sanders (ברני סנדרס) is 636, or 212 x 3.

A Donald Trump presidency will therefore be doubly bad for the Jewish people while a Bernie Sanders presidency will be triply bad for the Jewish people (לא עלינו).

But in the future, the Ben Ish Hai writes, even these 212 hours will turn around in our favor since 212 is the gematria of אורה - as in the verse ליהודים היתה אורה ושמחה וששון ויקר.

In the same vain, we can take a look at the verse וַיְהִי-עֶרֶב וַיְהִי-בֹקֶר, יוֹם חֲמִישִׁי.  [And there was evening and there was morning, a fifth day.]

We know that the 5th day represents the fifth millennium, which was entirely made up of troubles for the Jewish people, as it was the only millennium in its entirety where we, as a Jewish nation, were left in exile and without the presence of the Shechina in a centralized location.  It is also the millennium where the nation of Edom was at its strongest.  The sages say it is represented by the verse כָּל-הַיּוֹם דָּוָה [He hath made me desolate and faint all the day.]

It is understandable, therefore, that ויהי ערב ויהי בקר is the gematria of 636 - that of Bernie Sanders.  And יום חמישי is the gematria of 424 - that of Donald Trump.

We know, however, that the sixth millennium, which we are currently in, will contain the long-awaited Redemption.

Then again, 424 is also the gematria of משיח בן דוד [Mashiah ben David], so if he becomes president, we hope his presidency will herald in the new era of Mashiah.

Bernie not acknowledging his faith and espousing the vanity of anti-Torah liberalism and socialism provokes Hashem.  Under his presidency, the no-people, i.e., the Palestinians, and the vile nation, i.e., the Iranians, will (לא עלינו) continue to provoke the Jewish people with terrorism.

Yirmiya 16:11:

וְאָמַרְתָּ אֲלֵיהֶם, עַל אֲשֶׁר-עָזְבוּ אֲבוֹתֵיכֶם אוֹתִי נְאֻם-יְהוָה, וַיֵּלְכוּ אַחֲרֵי אֱלֹהִים אֲחֵרִים, וַיַּעַבְדוּם וַיִּשְׁתַּחֲווּ לָהֶם; וְאֹתִי עָזָבוּ, וְאֶת-תּוֹרָתִי לֹא שָׁמָרוּ

Bernie promotes the other gods of his agenda and has brought along many followers, including many Jews, who have forsaken Hashem and His Torah.

Then again, 636 is the gematria of Yeshaya 60:22:

הַקָּטֹן יִהְיֶה לָאֶלֶף, וְהַצָּעִיר לְגוֹי עָצוּם; אֲנִי יְהוָה, בְּעִתָּהּ אֲחִישֶׁנָּה

The smallest shall become a thousand, and the least a mighty nation; I the LORD will hasten it in its time.

We hope that his potential presidency will herald in the time not when a Jew leads a mighty nation, but when the Jewish people will become a mighty nation.

Hillary Clinton (הילרי קלינטון) has the gematria of 510.  Interestingly, she shares that gematria with a few interesting Geula-related verses that signify that her presidency shows the downfall of Edom and Yishmael and an impending Redemption (the words in bold equal 510):

Micha 7:6:

כִּי בֵן, מְנַבֵּל אָב, בַּת קָמָה בְאִמָּהּ, כַּלָּה בַּחֲמֹתָהּ: אֹיְבֵי אִישׁ, אַנְשֵׁי בֵיתוֹ

For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; a man's enemies are the men of his own house.

The gemara in Sotah 49b considers this as one of the signs of Ikveta Dimshiha.  And it's no coincidence that Hillary said that her mother-in-law "was a doozy".  In addition, her progressive agenda promotes anti-establishment and anti-family-unit policies like this verse predicts will occur.

Zecharia 14:8:

וְהָיָה בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא, יֵצְאוּ מַיִם-חַיִּים מִירוּשָׁלִַם, חֶצְיָם אֶל-הַיָּם הַקַּדְמוֹנִי, וְחֶצְיָם אֶל-הַיָּם הָאַחֲרוֹן: בַּקַּיִץ וּבָחֹרֶף, יִהְיֶה

And it shall come to pass in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem: half of them toward the eastern sea, and half of them toward the western sea; in summer and in winter shall it be.

The translation of האחרון as "western" is based on Rashi, Metzudat Tzion, and Radak.  This tells us that the influence from Yerushalayim will reach even the U.S. in the west and overpower it.

Daniel 7:11:

חָזֵה הֲוֵית--בֵּאדַיִן מִן-קָל מִלַּיָּא רַבְרְבָתָא, דִּי קַרְנָא מְמַלֱּלָה; חָזֵה הֲוֵית עַד דִּי קְטִילַת חֵיוְתָא, וְהוּבַד גִּשְׁמַהּ, וִיהִיבַת, לִיקֵדַת אֶשָּׁא

I beheld at that time because of the voice of the great words which the horn spoke, I beheld even till the beast was slain, and its body destroyed, and it was given to be burned with fire.

This talks about the destruction of the fourth beast of Edom.  Ibn Ezra and Metzudat David say that it refers to the grandiose words (like those that Hillary talks) that the horn says before its destruction.  At the same time, Malbim says that this speaking horn refers to the prophet of the Ishmaelites (for whom the Rambam has a special word to describe), who speaks against the Torah.  Hillary's failure to denounce Islamic terrorism by its name and kiss of Mrs. Arafat promotes this same attitude.

Daniel 7:25:

וּמִלִּין, לְצַד עליא (עִלָּאָה) יְמַלִּל, וּלְקַדִּישֵׁי עֶלְיוֹנִין, יְבַלֵּא; וְיִסְבַּר, לְהַשְׁנָיָה זִמְנִין וְדָת, וְיִתְיַהֲבוּן בִּידֵהּ, עַד-עִדָּן וְעִדָּנִין וּפְלַג עִדָּן

And he shall speak words against the Most High, and shall wear out the saints of the Most High; and he shall think to change the seasons and the law; and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and half a time.

This verse tells us how long we have until we are released from the hand of Edom, while according to the Malbim, from the hand of Yishmael.

May a potential Clinton presidency herald in the destruction of Edom and Yishmael and the beginning of our Redemption.

Ted Cruz (טד כרוז), being a man of the right, has the same gematria (246) as לֵב חָכָם לִימִינוֹ, from the verse לֵב חָכָם לִימִינוֹ, וְלֵב כְּסִיל לִשְׂמֹאלוֹ [A wise man's understanding is at his right hand; but a fool's understanding at his left].

Nevertheless, we vote in elections only to do Hishtadlut - not to put our trust in politicians.  We say every day אַל-תִּבְטְחוּ בִנְדִיבִים-- בְּבֶן-אָדָם, שֶׁאֵין לוֹ תְשׁוּעָה [Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help].  Rather, our trust should be only in Hashem.

May Hashem send His Mashiah speedily so we won't need to worry who the next POTUS will be any longer.
