Rav Yitzhak Kaduri, ZTzVK"L

It is with great sorrow that the world mourns the loss of the worldwide elder kabbalist Rav Yitzhak Kaduri, Zecher Tzadik Vekadosh Livracha, who passed away in Israel on Saturday night at the age of 108.

The age of 108 (if correct) is interesting as it is exactly 3 fifths of the age of his namesake, Yitzhak Avinu, who lived until 180. I'm not sure what it means, however.

Rav Kaduri was recognized worldwide for his vast knowledge of both Nigleh and Nistar - parts of the Torah that are revealed and those that are hidden. His passing is truly a loss for all of us.

Baruch Dayan Ha'emet.

Zechuto Yagein Aleinu, Amen.

Could you please translate the article in Hebrew on LaDaat about Rav Kaduri requesting Pres. Bush to release "free" Jonathan Pollard. I would appreciate it very much. TU

Here's my translation:

The elder kabbalist Rav Yitzhak Kaduri Zt"l sent US President George Bush his last request a few months ago, and in it, he writes that he requests that he [the President] frees Pollard. In the letter, Rav Kaduri writes, [quoting the pasuk] "And what does Hashem request from you - only doing justice and love of kindness, and walking modestly with your G-d." The rabbi added and wrote that "America will be blessed from Above" if it frees Pollard.

Esther Pollard, Jonathan Pollard's wife, this evening called upon President Bush to do a "Hesed Shel Emet" [kindness of truth - referring to kindness done for the already departed] with Rav Kaduri by way of honoring his final request and returning Jonathan Pollard home to Israel. "Jonathan would be able to be here on time in order to take part in the 7 days of mourning over the death of the Rav, which will begin tomorrow after the funeral. If Bush will not answer the request of the Rav, then there will be a terrible degradation and a blemish in the memory of Rav Kaduri.
