Forbes List of Most Influential Rabbis
I know this is a few days old, but I think that this was pretty interesting.
Unlike Newsweek's annual list of US rabbis, which includes many people with whom I dare not say the word "rabbi" in the same breath, Forbes did an admirable job in getting a broad spectrum of rabbis in Israel who really deserve the title. One might have quibbles here and there, but they got it right for the most part.
Here's the list (h/t Rafi):
- Rav Ovadia Yosef Shlit"a
- Rav Elyashiv Shlit"a
- Rav Shteinman Shlit"a
- Rav Chaim Kanievsky Shlit"a
- Rav Nachman of Breslov ZT"L and the Lubavitcher Rebbe ZT"L
- Rav Shmuel Eliyahu Shlit"a
- Rav Moti Elon Shlit"a
- Rav Aviner Shlit"a
- The Gerrer Rebbe Shlit"a
- The Belzer Rebbe Shlit"a
- Rav Dov Lior Shlit"a
- The Vizhnitzer Rebbe Shlit"a
- Rav Shelomo Moshe Amar Shlit"a
- Rav Yoram Abergil Shlit"a, Rav Elbaz Shlit"a, and Rav Amnon Yitzhak Shlit"a
- Rav Yuval Sherlo Shlit"a
- Rav Yoshiyahu Pinto Shlit"a and Rav Ifergan (the X-Ray) Shlit"a
- Rav Ratzon Arusi Shlit"a
- Rav Yonah Metzger Shlit"a and Rav Yisrael Lau Shlit"a
- Rav Benayahu Shmueli Shlit"a
- Rav Hayim Hakohen (the Milkman) Shlit"a

There are two with a zt"l, all the rest Re still with us. It's very interesting that the only Rabbis on this list, that are no longer with us, are ones that still have a very strong on-going effect on many, many followers .... And are also concerned with the Geulah.
I agree with Neshama. It is amazing that the zt"l Rabbis came in at number five.
