Going Into Shabbat Hazon With Aveilut

With the terrible news of more IDF soldiers being killed and one captured (הדר בן חדוה לאה) by evil Hamas terrorists, we are all going into Shabbat Hazon with a deep sense of mourning:

  • Mourning for the loss of soldiers
  • Mourning for the capture of a soldier
  • Mourning for a deeply misguided (if not evil) US President and Secretary of State
  • Mourning for an evil anti-Semitic UN
  • Mourning for a Europe whose mix of radical Edomite past and radical Yishmaelite future doesn't bode well for Jews or for Israel
  • Mourning for an Israeli government who doesn't value Torah learning the way it should
  • Mourning for the lack of consistent moral clarity of our Jewish political leaders
  • Mourning for the lack of an army like the Maccabees who knew how to fight Jewishly
  • Mourning for the lack of our Jewish leaders of yesteryear: אנשי אמונה אבדו...דוחים את הגזירות היו לנו לחומה ולמחסה ביום זעם (we're now having a Yom Za'am)
  • Mourning for the lack of a justice system who rules based on the Torah
  • Mourning for the lack of Malchut Beit David
  • Mourning for the lack of the Beit Hamikdash
To get where we need to be, we need to do Teshuva.  Prayers are good, but not good enough.  Hashem wants actions - without which the prayers mean nothing, as we read in this week's Haftara.

May הדר בן חדוה לאה return home quickly לשלום and may Hashem help us do the proper Teshuva to end our mourning very soon.

Lets each pick something to work on. We can each make a difference to help bring the redemption

There is a lot to be troubled about. But lets enjoy the gift of Shabbos that Hashem gave us and bring that positive energy to the week, bezrat Hashem

YY, you have said the words I've been struggling to express today. There is such darkness and כבדות all around us. I wish there wasn't a need for any wars or fear or pain before Mossiach come. It's almost unbearable to see with open eyes what is happening in this world, it's madness! There is so much hate for us and the lies keeping spreading. With all that, we know that we only get to see very little of the truth.

Sorry, but I disagree.

Shabbath takes precedence over most all forms of aveiluth.

Now, if you want to talk about grieving (feeling, not behavior), then I cannot argue with you.

Shavua Tov
Your list is great. However, the one about the IDF is unfair. They would fight like the Maccabees if their hands were not tied by the weak leaders. It's a shame to blame them, as they have been giving their lives for us, as their faces appear all over the Jerusalem Post as their families mourn them.

Smb, I pick Emuna. To devote every action and thought toward dependence ONLY on HaShem. To give gratitude to HaShem for every moment of every day.

Many left wing xtians in america are turning anti semitic ie murmuring under there breaths curse these jews when one passes by. Britain is already ripe with antisemitism . Ishmael is our body as for our souls , edom wouldnt let moses the greatest prophet ever pass through , and its a halacha esau sinat yaakov . I hope messiah comes now because anti semitism is ripe for many many more kapporot if Hashem delays ! May the jews who still consider themselves jews ie the 13 principles of the Rambam please Hashem and turn his face from the wicked who only seek to suckle from the klopot thus denying his torah as ~~~~~~DIVINE !

Be blessed with an easy fast.
i agree with neshama. ysr has the most humane and up to date army. they follow orders. behind the UN and kerry and all, there must be alot of arm twisting on bb. this is not the time to criticse the idf who are giving their lives to protect the civilians. imagine how their parents would feel reading such comments. reading un pillay's remarks criticising ysr for not giving the palestinians the iron dome leaves me speechless. and i feel so ashamed she is an indian, as i am. she must be really insane. i have never heard her tell any of the non j nations to give protection to their enemies. the whole world is ganging up against ysr. May Hashem bless ysr and say, enough , to its enemies, whoever they are.

Esser Agaroth,

You are correct. I didn't mean to actually have Aveilut during Shabbat.

Neshama and Anonymous 4:46,

I wasn't blaming the IDF soldiers, who fight like they should when allowed to. What I don't like are the IDF's policies that compromise the soldiers' security just to protect the enemy's civilians. If there's a choice between the 2, it is not more moral to save the enemy's civilians. The army's first priority is to protect itself and its own citizens from harm, period. Morality is not based on what the world deems right, but on what Hashem deems right. His Torah teaches us Haba Lehorgecha, Hashkem Lehorgo. We don't like dead Palestinians, but our soldiers' lives should be worth more - no matter what the Gedolei International Community say. The Macabees understood that. It's too bad our leaders don't.
