Sha'ar Harahamim (Golden Gate) to be Opened by the Wakf?

NRG reports that the Wakf plans on repairs to Sha'ar Harahamim (aka Golden Gate) and to eventually open it up permanently.
This is quite interesting as Jewish tradition contends that this will be the gate through which Mashiah will enter Yerushalayim.

Whatever our enemies are doing will somehow benefit us and will boomerang on them. They all have sinister motives, whatever they may be, but H' uses them to somehow benefit the children of Israel.
