Russia's Chief Rabbi: Mashiah Imminent

I'm not sure if this is newsworthy or not, but I found it via Google News.

I find it somewhat newsworthy in that even chief rabbis are talking about it.

Yes, I'm aware of that, but the timing is noteworthy and the status of "Chief Rabbi" is noteworthy.

Not quite as newsworthy as the Gerrer Rebbe's announcement, however.

So, he's the chief rabbi talking to non-Jewish journalist and putting his credibility on the line.

Please, no one remembers this kind of talk. Besides which, I don't believe that he meant it any more than the usual mashiach talk which we've heard the past 100 years.

Vincent, thanks for the compliment, but there are much better people than me at this.

Dave, OK. I'm maskim, which is why I said it is only somewhat newsworthy. But, if Mashiah comes by Tisha B'av, believe me - many will remember "this kind of talk".
