Yes, I'm aware of that, but the timing is noteworthy and the status of "Chief Rabbi" is noteworthy.
Not quite as newsworthy as the Gerrer Rebbe's announcement, however.

Please, no one remembers this kind of talk. Besides which, I don't believe that he meant it any more than the usual mashiach talk which we've heard the past 100 years.

Dave, OK. I'm maskim, which is why I said it is only somewhat newsworthy. But, if Mashiah comes by Tisha B'av, believe me - many will remember "this kind of talk".
