Peres Becomes President - Foretold?
Shimon Peres will become the next President of Israel.
The curse of the Gerrer Rebbe has been broken.
The following may be quite interesting. It is a quote from ספר זרובבל (hosted by Hashem1.net), an ancient book that talks about the years preceding the Mashiah. Note that Peres will become Israel's ninth president.

The curse still continues, both the other canidates dropped out letting Peres win by default. That is not the same as winning the election.
Point taken, so maybe that's still a Kiyum of the curse.
However, this is Doheik since that was done at the last minute, so it's hard to say that he didn't win - he did win the first round of voting.
Commenter "Sfaradi" from 3 posts ago says that the curse was broken due to a recent Mitzvah that Peres did. Definitely possible.
Either way the roller coaster ride has just gotten alot more bumpy.
What is the gematria of Shimon Peres? Do we think we know who he was in a former lifetime?
peres is paras, but as the Jews of Paras did Tshuve, maybe Peres will too...

Anyways, I don't believe the stuff written there. Yes, Shas has some left-wing elements, but it's not moving toward the left more than before - that's just plain wrong.
given that the other nusach is Shiron, which is quite different from Paros, and that it is followed by miParas, under the principle of lectio difficilior, I would assume that the original was Shiron and was edited from a munged manuscript into Paros based on the proximate word.
Also, it is "asher yakumu al haUmot," not "al yisrael." Nor would Peres have the power to do what else is specified in the rest of the paragraph, since in Israel, president is just a figurehead position. For example, how can he wage a war?
First of all, I had to look up "lectio difficilior" in Wikipedia. :) Unlike some of us, I never took a textual criticism course in college.
