Please Pray for Maran Harav Hayim Ovadia Yosef ben Gorgia

Due to the deterioration of Rav Ovadia Yosef's condition, the name "Hayim" has been added to his name. As one of the great leaders of the generation, he has almost single-handedly sustained multiple generations of Jews throughout the world in Torah and halachic observance. He now needs our Tefilot.

Please tear open the heavens and pray for Harav Hayim Ovadia Yosef ben Gorgia.

Ladaat notes that the name was added 93 years to the day of his Berit Milah, when he received his original name - Yosef.

It is interesting to note that in the Torah portion which we will read on Simhat Torah - Vezot Haberacha - in the blessing for Yosef, it contains the word "וממגד" four times. This word's gematria is 93.

Also noteworthy is that if you count the number of words of the blessings of both children of Rahel Imeinu - Binyamin and Yosef - you get the number 68 - the gematria of חיים, which is the added name. Note further that the 4 וממגדs are smack in the middle of these 68 words - 2 before the halfway point and 2 after it.

Just some random thoughts. Take from it what you will.

Refua Shleimah and may the Rabbi enjoy good health until 120 and beyond.
I thought we do not add a name to a choleh when he is a chacham, is the Sefardi minhag different?
