1946 Years Since the Hurban
Jewish tradition has it that the destruction of the second Beit Hamikdash took place in the year 3828, which is the year 68 (כמנין חיים) - unlike the secular historians who date it at the year 70. We can therefore say that the Shechina has suffered without a place to rest - and we have suffered without a place to offer sacrifices - for 1946 years.
GezaGeza tells me the verses from the Torah (besides many from Nach) that have the gematria of 1946:
Hashem saves us from Egypt and Pharaoh. There is a widely known connection between Pesah and Tish'a Be'av brought out in many Kinot and by the fact that they both always fall out on the same day of the week.
This can be a Remez (not made up by me) to HKB"H killing the Yetzer Hara (Hu Mal'ach Hamavet) at the End of Days.
And here's one from Ketuvim that I found interesting:
King Asa (who has previously been compared to Netanyahu) wages war against the Kutim. He prays and Hashem smites them. Where? At Gerar.
May our days of mourning end and may Tish'a Be'av turn into a day of Yom Tov, speedily in our days, Amen.
