Big News by End of Week?

Rabbi Pinchas Winston:

Actually, it is the fast of the 17th of Tammuz today as I write this, the first day of the Three Weeks. I have just gotten off the phone with someone who has told me, in the name of a certain Mekubel, that events will occur by the Shabbos of the parshah for which this is being written that will impact the entire world. Apparently certain signs are supposed to occur to indicate this, and have been quickly since last Lag B'Omer.

Is this the big news? Or is it something bigger?

Update: An anonymous poster pointed this scary article out to me.

Hi.

I am not sure the death of a Ruler who has in effect been incapacitated for 10 years and unable to rule would be described as an event that shakes the whole world.

I agree. But if nothing else happens this week, maybe this is the event that will prove to cause a chain reaction that will lead to an even greater event.
We'll have to see.

Another false alarm. Oh well. This must be the sheker that chazal were talking about in the times of Moshiach.

This may or may not be a false alarm. Something may have happened this week that may require special glasses to see its importance, like I mentioned re: King Fahd's death. One thing I'll admit: nothing "openly big" happened this past week.

With all due respect, you seem really sincere, but all this talk about six year old children, tsunami foreseeing rabbis,it's all a bunch of BS. Now you have gematrios. Every time something happens, people trot out these obscure midrashim and gematrios trying to divine the future. Hashem said the ketz is hidden. What part of the word hidden don't you understand? Hashen told the navi that golus bavel would last 70 years, and people still got messed up with different cheshbonos. You think you're smarter? Hapeti yaamin l'chal davar surely applies here. (Not that I'm calling you a fool, but you get my point.)

Point 1 - I don't believe everything I post. Let the reader decide whether they want to believe it or not. I just report it. If I believed everything, I'd probably be in a psych ward right now.

Point 2 - regarding the Ketz, see the comments on this post for a similar discussion.
