Rav Elyashiv: We Cannot Pasken that the Geula Should Come
Matzav:
Various admorim and Torah giants were known for asking morei horaah, halachic adjudicators, to pasken that Moshiach should come. These rabbonim would say that a morah horaah, a posek, is given certain powers to issue a halachic ruling that can impact the metzius, the reality, of the world.
It was with this in mind that Rav Menashe Klein, noted posek and author of the Mishneh Halachos, who currently resides in Eretz Yisroel, posed a request to the posek hador at his home in Meah Shearim.
Rav Klein, during a recent visit to Maran Rav Yosef Shalom Elyashiv, asked the centenarian gadol to pasken that Moshiach should come. Rav Elyashiv politely refused, stating, “We cannot pasken [that the geulah should come], but rather, we should believe in and anticipate [the coming of the geulah].”

and who ever believes otherwise,is an ignorant fool
Browser,
I didn't see Rav Elyashiv Shlit"a using such language.
Nor is that what you'd probably want to call Rav Menashe Klein (according to his Hava Amina) or (Lehibadel bein Hayim LeHayim) Rav Mordechai Eliyahu (according to his Maskana).
Is that what you say to every Mahloket that you have an opinion on? Whoever doesn't agree with me is an ignorant fool?
Methinks there are a lot of people - both alive and otherwise - that you must ask Mehilla from.
Let them pasken it, watch nothing take place from it and further prove it's spilling the seed. If they did, it would be based on something they are afraid to acknowledge. (As the Baal Shem Tov stated the rabbi's will hinder the geulah). The game of religion is almost expired. HaShem is tired of our games we play with Him. (ie, severe drought in Israel for the 8th year now). It's out of our hands completely now. I know, Yaak, that you are not in our home, Israel, but it's finished, just a matter of time. We as a nation, religious and otherwise have blown it completely. I won't go into many details but we are in for a rough ride. Every day it get's worse here. The people are further splitting into two groups, good and bad, and religious observance is irrelevant. Before you get defensive, I am around the Haredim and Chasidim 99% of my time. And yes, they will not exactly welcome haShem's choice.
RE: "And yes, they will not exactly welcome haShem's choice."
Shiloh,
Do you mean this because of lack of achdut, for example, or for some other reason?
HaSepharadi
Rav Mordechai Eliyahu zl has told us that the key to the Geula is Yonatan Pollard.
Once Yonatan Pollard goes free, Gilad Shalit goes free, and then all Am Yisrael goes free with the coming of Moshiach.
The reason for this being that Yonatan Pollard has part of Yosef's neshama.
Rav Mattityahu Glazerson was able to decipher the same information from the Torah codes.
So don't expect anything to happen until Yonatan Pollard goes free.
HaSephardi, different reasons.
Pollard is irrelevant in all of this. His release should happen no matter what. The unfortunate soldier of well connected lefties need's also to be released, but not to do with the geulah. Trade his worthless parents for him.
Yaak--you speak of a hava amina and a maskana. Note that Rav Klein didn't ask for a psak whether one should pasken that Moshiach should come--he asked Rav Elyashiv to pasken that Moshiach should come, and he refused. I see no proof in the article that Rav Klein necessarily accepted that statement.
Perhaps no proof, but the assumption is there.
