Front Yard Vegetable Garden Update
Remember the frum woman who faced jail-time for planting her vegetable garden in her front yard in Oak Park, MI?
It turns out she and her family are moving to Seattle.
Hatzlaha Rabba to her!

thank you for the good wishes! i was just reading your original post about our garden, and i found it so odd that there were so many questions about who/what i am. i have always been a pretty open book, and there are plenty of people who know me and could vouch for me :) i don't know if it is too late to throw this out there (the charges have all been dismissed), but- for anyone who it matters to, we are jewish, we are frum, we do homeschool some of our children, we did check on the zoning before we made the garden, we didn't break any laws, we were never at any point doing anything that was prohibited, and i am completely open to questions if someone wants to put them on my blog. i never discussed being jewish or frum on any mainstream news interviews, because i never wanted that to be an issue, nor did i want there to be any backlash against any jews anywhere. thank you for covering the story- i am real, and this really did happen! -julie bass from oak park michigan
julie, you should make it a positive issue (a Kiddush HaShem) by all means.
You know, you can do all the farming you want in Eretz Yisrael.
Julie,
Thanks for commenting here. I thought it was pretty great that you stood up for yourself.
I hope I didn't complicate matters by labeling you as frum.
Hatzlaha again. I have some Seattle connections so email me (email is on the right) if you need info.
