Protest Day

2 things going on in Israel caused protests by religious Jews today :
  • Protesting Jerusalem's To'eva Pride Parade (see here)
  • Protesting the disengagement (see here and here)

Eleh Varechev Ve'eleh Vasusim Va'anahnu Beshem Hashem Elokeinu Nazkir.

Update: Shabes.net brings down an amazing connection between the 2 events. The site says that in Parshat Aharei Mot, the Torah says as a punishment for illicit relationships (including homosexuality), which are called To'evot (abominations) :

וְלֹא-תָקִיא הָאָרֶץ אֶתְכֶם, בְּטַמַּאֲכֶם אֹתָהּ, כַּאֲשֶׁר קָאָה אֶת-הַגּוֹי, אֲשֶׁר לִפְנֵיכֶם.

that the land vomit not you out also, when ye defile it, as it vomited out the nation that was before you.

The implementation of the decree of Disengagement started today, the 23rd of Sivan. It is today, the 23rd of Sivan, that they had the To'eva Pride Parade. The punishment for abominations is getting kicked out of the land.

(See also the End of Days Blog for the significance of this day, the 23rd of Sivan.)

Hashem should help us all in this trying time, and we should be able to say: Va'anahnu Kamnu Vanit'odad!

Lazer Beams: Gerrer Rebbe Latest to Join

Rabbi Lazer Brody comes up with another great piece of news - the Gerrer Rebbe reportedly said that Mashiah will come either this year or by the end of next year.

4th Anniversary of R' Ovadia's Mashiah Dream

In honor of the 4th anniversary of Rav Ovadia Yosef's dream about Mashiah, I will bring you the details from ynet's Hebrew site (my translation):

The spiritual leader of Shas reported to those close to him emotionally that he saw the Mashiah coming to the Kotel and announcing: "I want that all the Avrechim (Kollel members) should be recruited to teach Torah." Rav Ovadia told over that in the dream "In all of Jerusalem, there were only Jews והמבין יבין. And all strangers that were not Jewish were not [there], and were already expelled from Israel." Rav Ben-Tzion Mutzafi, one of the important rabbis in Shas: "This shows that the redemption is really close."

by Avishai Ben Haim

First report: There is a Messianic fervor and spiritual upheaval in Shas, following the occurance that the movement's spiritual leader, Rav Ovadia Yosef, told over - that last Friday night, Mashiah was revealed to him in a dream. Rav Ovadia told over the Messianic dream when he brought up the matter at the wedding of one of his grandchildren, which took place 2 days ago (Monday) in the evening. Rav Ovadia told over that he saw Mashiah in a dream reaching the Kotel and saying "I want that all Avrechim should be recruited (to teach Torah).

Rav Ovadia spoke very emotionally and said, "On Friday night, I saw in a dream that the Mashiah came to the Kotel, and in the plaza, it was filled with people. The Mashiah told them, 'Gentlemen, I have now come. There are a million students who don't learn Torah - they learn in secular schools. I want all the Avrechim to be recruited. מי לה' אלי - so that there should be teachers to teach them Torah. There should not be one school left that there will be no Torah in it - all of them should be learning Torah.' " After he quoted the words of the Mashiah in the dream, the rabbi concluded with the words ,"And I heard all this in a dream until I awakened." Following the impression that the dream left, Rav Ovadia organized a special gathering that will take place next Sunday in the Porat Yosef Yeshiva in Jerusalem.

And all strangers that were not Jewish were not [there], and were already expelled

The story of Rav Ovadia's dream spread rapidly, and merited various explanations [unknown translation]. Rav Ben-Tzion Mutzafi, one of the closest rabbis to Rav Ovadia Yosef, said about Rav Ovadia's dream that, "We didn't hear about anyone that merited to see the King Mashiah in a dream, and if a man like Rav Ovadia Yosef, of whom the Shechina speaks from his throat, merits to see the King Mashiah, this shows that the redemption is really close."

Rav Mutzafi was called yesterday to the rabbi's home, and he told over the full details of Rav Ovadia's meeting with the King Mashiah to the pirate radio station "Shuva Yisrael". Rav Mutzafi told over that Rav Ovadia described for him that "he saw the King Mashiah found at the Kotel". The spiritual leader of Shas refused to describe to Mutzafi what Mashiah looked like, but said, "They told me that this is the King Mashiah, and it looked as if this was the King Mashiah, and the Kotel was packed with many thousands of people, but not just the Kotel, rather in all of Jerusalem, there were only Jews, והמבין יבין. And all strangers that were not Jewish were not [there], and were already expelled from Israel."

Rav Mutzafi continued to detail what Rav Ovadia described to him: "I saw the whole area from the Kotel until the Jordan River full of Jews that came from the ingathering of the exiles, from the resurrection of the dead, and from all places - millions and millions of Jews. The entire area was filled with only Jews, and there were no non-Jews left...and they told me that from now, there will be no more wars, there will be peace in the world, it will be quiet, and the King Mashiah has already been ruling."

Rav Ovadia continued to describe to Rav Mutzafi that "there was a flag of the King Mashiah, and upon it, it was written 'רוח אפיו ימית רשע' [I don't know if this really supposed to be וּבְרוּחַ שְׂפָתָיו יָמִית רָשָׁע or not - YY]. He added details about his conversation with the King Mashiah: "I asked him, the Mashiah: 'Why don't you reveal yourself already? Look, we are suffering, and we're all in pain.' The King Mashiah answered me in these words: 'Because there are a million Jewish children who do not say the Shema Yisrael every day - because of this, I have not come. Go tell all single Yeshiva students and Avrechim to go out and bring people closer to Avodat Hashem.' "

This was the main part of the article. If there's interest, I'll translate the rest of the article as well.

Shulhan Aruch Okayed in Russia

After the initial Roman-decree-like scare, the Shulhan Aruch is no longer considered a racist book to Russia, reports the Jerusalem Post.
However, Russia is still considered a racist country, says me (and others).

Geula Stuff

  • Lazer Beams reports about seapage in the Dome of the Rock making the Wakf nervous
  • A Crisp Elul Morning is starting to translate the Ramha"l's Ma'amar HaGe'ula.
  • Point of Pinchas reports that the Yated Ne'eman wrote an article about the Sanhedrin - not a favorable one - but at least is was acknowledged.

Shabak Agents Caught For Not Knowing Halacha

Arutz Sheva reports:
"I can tell you that we have already caught three GSS (Shabak) agents here," Yitzchaki told Arutz-7's correspondent today, "who attempted to blend in with the local population. This past Passover, four boys came dressed up as yeshiva boys - but when they awoke early on the first day of the holiday to go to synagogue and began to put on tefillin [which is worn only on non-holidays], we realized that they were not quite who they said they were. Just two weeks, two other 'yeshiva boys' being hosted at a private family talked out in the middle of the Kiddush prayer [when talking is not permitted] about how good the challah bread was..."

This doesn't bode well for Mossad agents in Arab countries if Shabak can't even blend in with Jews. That being said, I'm glad they were caught.

Rabbi Pinchas Winston on the merit of being in Israel when Mashiah comes:

There is a tradition that, at the time of the arrival of Moshiach, wonderful things will happen for Jews everywhere. On the actual day that they arrive from the Diaspora . . . the walls of Yerushalayim will be replaced. It will also be the day of the re-building of the Temple, which will be built from exquisite stones and gems. Once the dead are resurrected, they will become transformed and will have very lofty natures. However, the same type of transformation will occur for the . . . Jews who remained alive [in Eretz Yisroel], and their bodies will be like that of Adam HaRishon before his sin, and like Moshe Rabbeinu's. They will become so spiritual that they will be able to fly like eagles, which will astound the redeemed exiles. Upon witnessing this, the "Diaspora Jews" will become upset, and they will complain to Moshiach, Are we not Jews like them? Why do they merit to fly and live in an elevated spiritual state, and not us? However, Moshiach will answer them, "It is quite well known that G-d works measure-for-measure. Those who lived in the Diaspora and made efforts and sacrifices to elevate themselves by moving to the Holy Land merited purity of soul. They were not so concerned about their finances and health. They traveled over vast lands and crossed seas, not paying attention to the possibilities of drowning, being robbed along the way, or being taken captive by some strange foreign ruler. Being that they placed priority of their spirit over materialism and physicality, they merit, measure-for-measure, to be elevated to this lofty spiritual plane. On the other hand, you who also had opportunities to go up to Israel, but remained hesitant and reluctant, enamored instead with your materialistic status, making materialism a higher priority than spiritual growth, therefore, measure-for-measure, remain physical . . . However, for those who valued their soul most, they will be transformed into supernal beings and will be led into the earthly Garden of Eden. (Tuv HaAretz: Praise Of Those Who Dwell In Israel At The Time Of Moshiach)

Here are some very recent calls to come to or stay in Israel now.

P.S. Batya,
There are some good links here for your Aliya-themed Haveil Havalim.

Disengagement? It ain't happenin'!

  • Arutz Sheva writes that Rav Mordechai Eliyahu Thursday repeated his claim that the Disengagement will not take place.
  • Arutz Sheva's Hebrew site says that he called out 3 times: "Hayo Lo Tihyeh" ('היה לא תהיה'), which is a fancy way of saying "It will not take place". Rav Eliyahu used the same expression in a letter publicized 2 weeks ago.
  • Also, in the Hebrew site, it says that he even donated money to an organization that plants trees in Gush Katif called Ma'amin Vezore'a ("I believe and I'm planting"). He said that he plans on coming in the 4th year of the produce to fulfil the Mitzva of Neta Reva'i. (I wonder if he's referring to the Mitzvah of actually eating it in Yerushalayim - which is an option to do only when we have a Beit Hamikdash - not redeeming it on a coin - which is the only option nowadays.)

Lazer Beams: Get Ready for Takeoff

Here's the latest from R' Lazer:

Last night, the Melitzer Rebbe had a siyum (festive completion of learning a Talmudic tractate) in his house, with a minyan of his sons, sons-in-law, and closest talmidim (pupils). In honor of his father's yahrtzeit, the Rebbe said a siyum on tractate Sota.

It was the most astounding siyum I ever heard. With the voice of a pilot doing a pre-flight check, the Rebbe read one by one the preconditions for the coming of Moshiach that our sages listed on 49b, the last page of Sota.

Especially when the Rebbe reached the conditions, "The heads of the generation are like the face of a dog," he nodded, paused, then completed the list. In a calm matter-of-fact manner he then said, "this is the generation of Moshiach."

A week ago, I told the Rebbe that I had four speaking invitations (Denver, Atlanta, Toronto, and DC) to North America that coincide most timely with the upcoming release of The Trail to Tranquility, which is running a few weeks behind schedule and hopefully will be released by this coming July 1st, G-d willing. The Rebbe told me not to leave Israel. Now I understand why.

It's time to fasten our seat belts: It looks like we'll be taking off for Geula (redemption) any minute. Nows the time to grab as much Torah and tshuva as we possibly can. If you've harmed a neighbor, don't wait until the High Holidays to make amends - do it right away.

Lions' Selective Aggressiveness

Rachak points to an amazing CNN Article:
ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia (AP) -- Police say three lions rescued a 12-year-old girl kidnapped by men who wanted to force her into marriage, chasing off her abductors and guarding her until police and relatives tracked her down in a remote corner of Ethiopia.

This isn't the first time in history that lions have proven to be selectively aggressive via a miracle.

North Korean Threat

As if Israel doesn't have enough enemies to worry about, I just picked up another piece of news from Ledavid.com. North Korea is reportedly planning to conduct a nuclear test (although a former US envoy thinks that this is unlikely).

Anyways, the poster "Mordechai Hayehudi" here explains that there was a rabbi in Israel named Rav Levi Sa'adiah Nahmani ZTVK"L, who had a background in accurate predictions. He predicted the 6-day war to the day 3 days before it happened while living in Morrocco. He predicted the Yom Kippur war to the month. He is definitely someone with Ru'ah Hakodesh.

He publicly cried out before he died on numerous occasions more than 10 years ago (my translation):

"Do you think that there will be peace? Do you think that there will be quiet for one day? Utter fools! For it is written in Ha'azinu about us today:
דור עיקש ופתלתול ה- לה' תגמלו זאת עם נבל ולא חכם.

Do you know what will be Rahmana Litzlan?

Korea will arrive here!!!

Hashem should save us and save. Not Syria, not Iran, and not Iraq....Korea!!!! Rahmana Litzlan.

Do you know what's going on there today? Atomic Bomb!!! This is for us Rahmana Litzlan.

It will be very grave for us if we don't return and do Teshuva. You should understand!! You should know!!! This will be worse than the Holocaust - כי אש קדחה באפי ותיקד עד שאול תחתית

Do you know what "She'ol" is? This is the capital of [South] Korea!!! Seoul!

ותאכל ארץ ויבולה ותלהט מוסדי הרים אספה עלימו רעות חיצי אכלה בם. What's the explanation???!!! We have left the Holy One blessed be He. We thought that we are independent [of Him], that the Prime Minister sits and does what he wants, that the Holy One blessed be He doesn't exist Has Veshalom, and all of Israel belongs to the Prime Minister and he can do as he wishes, while the people are quiet.

However, the Torah says כי חלק ה' עמו. You are not independent. You are Mine!
חי אני נאום ה' אלוהים, אם לא ביד חזקה ובזרוע נטויה ובחימה שפוכה אמלוך עליכם

We don't have any quarrels with the Arabs. We have quarrels with the G-d of Israel. If we won't listen to Him, we will only have more and more troubles, and the situation will continue to worsen...

It is incumbent upon Jews to be careful from the evil culture of those Goyim that entered here. For you are Jews - the descendants of Avraham, Yitzhak, and Yaakov - who accepted the Torah. YOUR Torah!!!
You need to honor it, to value it, and to fight for it - not with violence - rather, with peaceful ways - with Teshuvah - only Teshuvah.

כי קרוב אליך הדבר מאד בפיך ובלבבך לעשותו

Scary stuff!

When Can We Achieve Unity?

I'm a big supporter of Ahdut (unity). Ahdut was achieved at Mt. Sinai, when we encamped at the mountain, ready to receive the Torah, like one person with one heart.

With the current situation in the Jewish world, Ahdut seems untenable. I believe that Ahdut can come during very low moments in time and very high moments in time. Matan Torah is an example of a high moment in time. An example of a low moment in time happened today, when a horrendous train crash occurred in Israel. At times like these, it's good that there is unity among the Jewish people, as Arutz Sheva reports:
Disengagement Protests Postponed Following Train Crash
21:40 Jun 21, '05 / 14 Sivan 5765

(IsraelNN.com) The organizers of tomorrow’s nationwide anti-disengagement protests announced a short time ago the day’s activities will be pushed off for one week, to next Wednesday.

Disengagement opponents explain that following the tragedy that has befallen so many families as a result of the train crash, the decision was made to push off the road closures and other planned protests.

I believe that this was a wise decision. Even though the Mahloket is Leshaim Shamayim, it is not a time for Mahloket at all. It is time for unity. At the appropriate time, if necessary, we can restart our struggle against the disengagement, but not now. Now, it is time for unity.

Let us hope that the unity that was expressed today stemming from a low point carries over to high points like the Unity Rally that is planned, or even better, to our unified welcoming of Mashiah - like one person with one heart.

Tidbits from the Ge'ula Department

(or, as I like to call it, "Not Haveil Havalim")

  • California has been getting lots of earthquakes lately. Are there more coming? Could this be what the Message from Mashiah referred to?
  • End of Days Blog blogger Dov Bar-Leib will be hosting Vendyl Jones this Shabbat in Kochav Yaakov, Israel. However, the search for the lost ark mentioned earlier is not going so well, according to Mystical Paths. Let's hope that he will not be hindered any longer.
  • A commenter on Mystical Paths from Cleveland is starting an organization called "American Friends of the Sanhedrin". Also, see here for a defense of the Sanhedrin.
  • According to Erev Mashiach, the 6-year-old boy Eli says that most Jewish souls were elevated over Shavuot. See here for further discussion on Eli in general.
  • The plans to have 600,000 Jews at the gates of Jerusalem for a unity demonstration are proceeding. The organizers are asking people to sign up here. More discussion about this is here and here.
  • According to Rabban Shimon Ben Gamliel here (near the top of 116a), the Parsha of Vayehi Binso'a, which is surrounded by upside-down Nuns, is currently out of place. It is now in the place that it is in order to separate between two troubles for the Jewish people in this Parsha. In the future, when there will be no more troubles and no Yetzer Hara(-Rashi), it will be placed where it belongs - next to the portion that deals with the flags and the travels in the desert. Let's hope that the time for no more troubles will come speedily in our days! Amen!

Rav Z.N. Goldberg: Disengagement is a Hillul Hashem

Ladaat.net reports that Rav Zalman Nechemia Goldberg (who was dubbed by Arutz Sheva as someone "whose influence transcends religious-party lines") called the Disengagement plan "a desecration of Hashem's name, of which nothing compares to it".
Rabbi Goldberg made his remarks at an anti-disengagement prayer rally today at the Kotel.

Short Shavuot Message

On Shavuot, the Jewish people reached the level of Adam Harishon before his sin. This means that if the golden calf episode would not have taken place, the Israelites would have entered Israel and Mashiah would have come immediately. After the episode of the golden calf, that level of holiness of the Jewish people had been severely tarnished.

The Midrash Rabbah gives many different opinions on exactly when the Jewish people decided to stray from their "Na'aseh VeNishma" commitment:
  1. Tamuz 17 - when the golden calf episode took place
  2. Tamuz 6 - 29 days after receiving the Torah
  3. Sivan 17 - 11 days after receiving the Torah (both 2 and 3 are based on a Pasuk in Devarim)
  4. Sivan 7 - only 1 day after receiving the Torah
  5. Sivan 6 - they never fully accepted the Torah (this is hardest for me to understand)

Let us hope that this Shavuot, we will accept the Torah once again, but this time with a greater commitment than ever before - Belaiv Shalem (with a complete heart). In so doing, we will "Reverse the curse" of the golden calf, and hopefully merit that Mashiah will come this year, Amen!

Silver Watch Strikes 12

Multiple sources are saying that the silver watch, representative of Hashem's attribute of mercy, has struck 12:00. A confirmation from Rav Eliyahu has not yet taken place. The gold watch has not yet. A Kabbalist in Israel says that this means that from the side of Hashem's mercy, we are already deserving the Ge'ula. May Hashem's mercy be energized, and may the Ge'ula come soon!

Ledavid.com Issues Disclaimer

Ledavid.com today issued a disclaimer regarding predictions of Ge'ula. The disclaimer (summarized) makes a distinction between statements by Gedolei Yisrael and those which are not. The statements made by Gedolim should be accepted "with a lot less doubt", while those emanating from other sources should not be believed as Torah MiSinai, although can have some truth in them. These types of predictions can help a person fulfil the Mitzvah of expecting redemption. However, there are those whose faith may be shattered by believing one of these predictions and expecting something to happen, and it doesn't. This is why he is issuing this disclaimer to let people know to take all predictions not coming from Gedolim with limited belief.

Let me echo everything said there.

Tidbits from Today's News

Also, today is Rosh Hodesh Sivan - the day when we were encamped around Mt. Sinai united like one man with one heart. Let's remember what our anscetors did on this day and try our best to follow in their footsteps - to show unity as a Jewish people, which will Be'ezrat Hashem, bring Mashiah Tzidkeinu, Bimhera Veyamenu, Amen.

"Watch" Out! Here Comes Mashiah!

Ledavid.com, Yiddishkeit.org, and Mystical Paths are all talking about a couple of watches given to Rav Mordechai Eliyahu by the Baba Sali via his son, Baba Baruch. Apparently, the watches are broken, but advance ever so slowly. One of the watches is gold and one is silver. When they reach 12:00, Mashiah is supposed to come.
Israeli TV just recently photographed the watches. The video of this should be here.
There is a bit of confusion whether the watches currently say 11:45 or 11:59.

Rabbi Shteinzaltz named Nassi of Sanhedrin

Rabbi Adin Shteinzaltz, famous for his multi-volume work on Shas, has been named the Nassi (leader) of the newly-formed Sanhedrin, reports Arutz Sheva.

It's interesting to see the comments on the article, with a lot of people pro and con the idea. Especially, note the comment from DevorahChaya (formerly of the blog Jerusalem Mandate):

Name: DevoraChaya
Hometown: Yerushalayim Ir Hakodesh
Title: Allow me, please...
Comment: ...to add my "mazal tov" and "yasher koach" to those courageous and forward-looking souls who have undertaken this phenomenal task. To those doubters and critics (who seem to reside mostly in chu"l), I say you should examine your motives for taking such a negative stance. Could it be that you simply do not want to see any progress on the road to Redemption because you are so comfortable where you sit? I suggest to you that you anchor yourself more firmly to a true Torah base than ever. This is definitely for real and the ride is going to get rockier yet before it's finished.

The article mentions other members of the Sanhedrin, as well. More are mentioned on the Sanhedrin's website.

Har Habayit Od Lo Beyadenu

Thoughts on Yom Yerushalayim:
  • I went to a black-hat Yeshiva in Israel. The Rosh Yeshiva called a number of the older students into his home for a Va'ad (discourse on Mussar and Hashkafa). The day was Yom Yerushalayim. We were used to non-Zionist and anti-Zionist ideas that permeated the Yeshiva, but I was too young to counter them with good arguments. We walk into the Rosh's home. When we walked out an hour later, we were ALL very surprised at what had just happened. The Rosh Yeshiva was very much in favor of acknowledging the significance of Yom Yerushalayim, and just delivered an hour-long Va'ad explaining why.

  • This year marks the 38th year after 1967. 38 is exactly double 19. We have thus surpassed our years without a united Jerusalem by a 2 to 1 margin. (See Dr. Vendyl Jones' understanding of the number 38 here.)

  • As significant as Yom Yerushalayim is, we still do not have complete control of Har Habayit. We are waiting for that day to come, Bimhera Veyamenu, Amen.

A More conservative Prediction

(Yes, that's "conservative" with a small "c".) That is, its predictions are not as bold (meaning soon-to-happen) as others that I've reported in the past like from here or here. But, it's very interesting nonetheless.

Here it is from Moshe Lerman. However, you probably should read this piece of his first to understand certain parts.

Ge'ula Update

  • Rabbi Lazer Brody reports on volcanos in Antarctica and how it is a harbinger of Mashiah's coming. He also responds to his critics who are confused at his current Mashiah speculation:

  • PW, we are fighting a tremendous spiritual war right now; it's either Moshiach and redemption, or oblivion. No, there's no more time for Disney, Star Wars, and McDonalds. As a rabbi and spiritual guide, it is my solemn duty to prepare as many people as possible for the future, Jews and non-Jews alike. If we win, it's eternal bliss; if we lose, G-d forbid, I can't begin to describe the eternal catastrophe. We, the Jewish people, have blown it twice (the destruction of the First Temple, and the destruction of the Second Temple). Hashem doesn't want us to blow it a third time, especially when so many of our spiritual leaders, from all camps, are saying that Moshiach is on our front doorstep. That's why Hashem's sending us all these wake-up calls, like the ones I wrote about yesterday. So you see, PW, I'm not a prophet of doom - I'm more like a head coach trying to get you in shape for the big game.

  • Erev Mashiach reports that the 6-year-old boy Eli tells us that Mashiah's shofar gold trumpet is currently being sounded. (I don't know what this means.)
Update: He also has a statement on 2 Mashiahs: 1 fake and 1 real. Take a look there.

  • This Shabbat is the 26th of Iyyar, which is the date gog1.com predicts (according to the Ibn Ezra's interpretation of a verse in Daniel) that something big will occur. For those Kabbalisticly inclined, it happens to be Yesod in Yesod. See here in Hebrew for more details.

  • The End of Days Blog has an interesting conversation in the comments section going on regarding those stuck in Hutz La'aretz - what can and should we do.
